I. Introduction
---------------
First there was Pac-Man, then there was Tetris, now there is
LEEWAY. Leeway was designed to be an entertaining game, this is
not a shoot-um-up, simulator or adventure game. This game was
created on the concept of having the user escape from reality and
RELAX. We programed this game in a computer language called "C++" to
give the user the up most speed and flexible. This game will work
with just about any type of graphic system available (with VGA graphic
being the best mode). If you find this game challenging and would
like to order the latest version, please send $ 14.00 plus $ 2.00
shipping to 3D ENGINEERING INC.
II. Object of the Game
----------------------
The object of this game is to move your sphere around the
playing grid in such a way that you outlast or entrap the
computer sphere. The basic object of the game is to out smart
the artificial intelligent based computer program. Try to
determine which moves you will need to make to beat the computer.
Their are four rounds in this version, each round will be more
difficult and have a different tactic to try to entrap your
sphere. When you get past all four rounds, a WILD graphic screen
will entertain you.
III. Files on this Disks

Below is a list of the files that should be on this distribution disk:

LEEWAY.ZIP This is a compressed file that contains all the
above files, this file can be used to store
Leeway on any Bulletin Board Service.

ERRORS
------
If you get a WRITE PROTECT ERROR, remove the write protect tab on
your floppy disk. If your disk does not have a write protect tab,
copy all the files from this disk to a blank formatted disk.
If you get a BGI GRAPHIC ERROR, try selecting a different option
from the graphic system menu.
V. How to Play LEEWAY
---------------------
The first thing you need to do is to chose a skill factor, I
recommend that you start with a low skill factor when you begin the
game ( get the feel of the game at a slow speed before you advance
to a higher skill level). No one has ever gotten past a skill factor
of 8. You have the option of using the cursor keys or the mouse to
control you sphere. I recommend that you use the keyboard when you
first start using this game, because the keyboard is much easier to
use. After you feel comfortable with the game then you should start
using your mouse to control the sphere.
* You can move your sphere across the screen (from top to bottom,
left to right, and visa versa).
* You cannot move your sphere backwards, this is a feature of this
version, this was added because people using this game for the
first few times tend to try to move backwards, which will blowup
your sphere. When you try to move backwards the sphere will stop
for a second and beep, then continue in the same direction.
* The HOLD key (F1) will allow you to stop action and plan out your
next move. Use this if you want to pause action or get stuck in
a sticky situation.
* The JUMP key (F2) is a advance function that you can use after
you start getting the hang of the game. This will allow you to
jump over the sphere in front of yours (you can use this when you
see that you are being entrapped, and need a way out or you need
to jump over the sphere in front of yours sphere to avoid being
destroyed.
* The SOUND key (S) will toggle the sound on and off.
* The EXIT key (Esc) will exit the main program loop.
You will have a total of five sphere when you start the game. The
sphere number you have will be located on the upper right corner of
the playing screen. Each round you play will be a little more difficult
then the previous round (the computer will make smarter moves). Round
four has a special graphic pattern and higher speed. After you have
completed all four rounds a neat little graphic screen will entertain
you.
VI. New Versions of LEEWAY
--------------------------
The next version of Leeway will have many advance features,
such as:
Advance artificial intelligent decision making. This means that
the computer sphere will be smarter and more difficult to beat.
Fifteen rounds, each round will be a little more difficult then the
previous round and have various high resolution graphic images to
avoid.
Two player option, this will allow you to play this game against
your friends on the same computer. One player will use the keyboard,
the other player will use the mouse.
MODEM support option, this will allow you to play your friends via
modems or allow you to call up your local BBS and play the game
through the BBS system.
VGA graphics, the next version will support 256 colors for VGA
systems.
Move in eight directions, this will allow you to move in all
eight directions instead of using the existing four direction
move.
The other features will be joystick option, high score table and
to skip to any round.
If you would like to order this new version please read the final
section of this document (VIII - ORDERING INFORMATION).
VII. Shareware Distribution
---------------------------
Shareware is a growing concept for the future. This gives YOU
the chance to freely obtain and try out this software to see if it
fits your needs or provides you with entertainment. Shareware means
that you try it, and if you like it, you should BUY it...........
If you continue to use this Shareware program, after trying it
out, you are expected to register your copy with 3D ENGINEERING and
pay the registration fee. What you get in return will be the latest
version of this game , PLUS A FREE COPY OF THE "ABM COMMANDER GAME".
Please support the Shareware concept, this will enable us to
continue to support our software and create new exciting programs.
Considering the price of a comparable commercial software package,
it's obvious that Shareware is a good deal for everyone.
There are real advantages to the Shareware system. You get to
try out software to make sure it's compatible with your system and
that it fits your needs before you "buy" it. 3D ENGINEERING saves
the expense of advertising, packaging and distribution and passes
the savings on to you. Plus, most Shareware authors are much more
accessible than commercial software sources so that your questions
and suggestions are much more likely to be responded to.
Shareware Dealers
-----------------
If you are a Shareware dealer and plan on adding this program to
your libary, Please send us a letter so we can add you company to
our database. This will allow us to send you any updates to this
program and all future Shareware programs that we develope.

charge more then $5.00 per disk.
