  5. [SIZE VERSE BUFFER]
  6. PURPOSE: To let you choose the amount of disk buffering in viewing verses.
  7. THOTS:   The lower the number, the faster SeedMaster will refresh its 
  8.             buffers as you scroll through verses.  
  9.             Note that only one half of the value chosen may be displayed 
  10.             in the window at a time (the rest of the window lines, if any,
  11.             will be blank).  
  12.             You can help fill the window by disabling the SHOW PARAGRAPH 
  13.             option (see below).
  14.          In general, if you have a slow computer, choose a lower value.
  15.          For the RAM concious, less memory is consumed with lower values.

  27. [VERSE FRAGMENTS]
  28. PURPOSE: To allow you to speed up the display of Search results.
  29. THOTS:   If you select "None", only the verse references (no verse text) 
  30.             will appear.  This can result in significantly faster 
  31.         searches, especially on slow computers.
  32.          If you choose "Verse Start" or "Word Context", a fragment of the 
  33.             verse will be displayed in the ajoining window.
  34.             If you use "Verse Start", the beginning of the verse will show.
  35.           Many people recognize a verse by how it starts, rather than 
  36.           the words in the middle. Also, it is a little faster than 
  37.           "Word Context".
  38.             If your answer is "Word Context", the context of the searched 
  39.           word(s) will show. If more than one word is used, the first 
  40.           one in the verse is keyed on. This helps you quickly screen
  41.               word uses.  For example, the word "lie" can indicate falsehood
  42.           or a reclining position. 
  43. ENTER:   Select your choice by pressing <Space> until a "button" appears
  44.            next to your choice.
  45. NOTES:     This choice is stored and will be used until changed.

  49. [WORD ORDER]
  50. PURPOSE: To allow you to control enforcing word order in phrase searches.
  51. THOTS:   If you select "None", no order will be enforced.  This will 
  52.         generate the most references from a word combination, and will
  53.             be the fastest search.
  54.          If you select "General" or "Literal", SeedMaster must screen 
  55.         potential verses containing phrase words for the proper order.
  56.         This takes more time than a "None" search, but it will be faster
  57.         than you can screen the verses manually.  The search time depends
  58.         on how many verses contain the phrase words.
  59.             If you choose "General" order, the words will be in order, but
  60.           other words may be BETWEEN the phrase words.
  61.             If you use "Literal" order, only spaces or punctuation will 
  62.           be permitted between words.
  63.         If you have enabled Case Sensitivity on the main menu, adding
  64.           Word Order won't signficantly slow down a search.
  65. ENTER:   Select your choice by pressing <Space> until a "button" appears
  66.            next to your choice.

  71. [FILE SAVE AS]
  72. PURPOSE: To allow you to specify a file name for your Search or Notepad
  73.        files.
  74. THOTS:     SeedMaster tracks file extensions and appends the appropriate 
  75.        extension automatically.  For Search files, it uses ".SMS" 
  76.        (for SeedMaster Search).  For Notepad files, it uses ".TXT".
  77. ENTER:     Enter the file name only, do not provide a file extension.

  94. PURPOSE: To allow you to select a previously defined output devices.
  95. THOTS:   This allows you to select among output devices (such as printers 
  96.          or disk files) that you defined under "Printer Setup" on the 
  97.          File menu.

  137. [USE PRINTER CODES]
  138. PURPOSE: To allow you to control printed output format.
  139. THOTS:   The printer codes are entered in Printer Setup in the File Menu.
  140.      If you toggle this check box "X" with the <Space> bar, Seed-
  141.        Master will use the optional Printer Codes to use your printer's 
  142.        special fonts or printing styles.  If defined, it will use
  143.        the initialization codes to change your default font or printing 
  144.        format. It will also use the Highlighting ON/OFF Codes to have 
  145.        Search words underlined, bold-faced, in italics, etc.
  146.      If codes are not used, you can still print.
  147.          For printing to a disk file, you will probably NOT want to use 
  148.            the codes.

  160. PURPOSE: To allow you to control printed output format.
  161. THOTS:     If you toggle this check box "X" with the <Space> bar, SeedMaster
  162.        will only print the verse reference for any verses selected, 
  163.        and NOT print the verse text.  This is useful for generating
  164.        lists of Search results to disk for importing into a document.

  182. PURPOSE: To allow you to control which verse references are printed in
  183.            SEARCH only.
  184. THOTS:   If you toggle this check box "X" with the <Space> bar, only those 
  185.            verses that are toggled ON (*), will be printed.  If you want 
  186.            to print only selected references, toggle them and choose this 
  187.            option.
  188.          If you toggle this check box " " (blank), ALL Search verse 
  189.            references will be printed.  If you want to print out all the 
  190.            references from a search, select this option.
  191. ENTER:   Y(es) or N(o)
  192. NOTES:     This choice is stored and will be used until changed.

  203. [PRINT COMMENTARY]
  204. PURPOSE: To let you print your commentary as you print out verses.
  205. THOTS:     This option is not available when you are simply printing
  206.        commentary or Notepad files.
  207. ENTER:     If you toggle this check box "X" with the <Space> bar, 
  208.        SeedMaster will print any commentary that exists for a 
  209.        verse on the next line after the verse.
  210. NOTES:     This choice is stored and will be used until changed.

  225. [DEFINE OUTPUT DEVICES]
  226. PURPOSE: To allow you to describe and define output device(s).
  227. THOTS:   This allows you to define output devices (such as printers 
  228.          or disk files).  
  229.          Whenever SeedMaster will refer to an output device, it will
  230.            refer its Ddescription, rather than the cryptic DOS Device
  231.            Name.
  232. ENTER:   The Device Name is the name DOS uses to refer to a device.
  233.          For printers, generally you can use "PRN" or "LPT1".  Serial
  234.            printers may use "COM1" or "COM2".
  235.          For DOS TEXT files, put the DOS "drive:\path\filename.ext"
  236.            specification in the Device Name field.  For example, if
  237.            you want to create a file named "TEXT.DAT" in your word 
  238.            processor's directory "\WP" on your "C:" drive, you would 
  239.            use: "C:\WP\TEXT.DAT".
  240.          Consult your DOS manual for more information on drives, paths
  241.            filenames and devices.

  247. [PAGE MARGINS/LINES]
  248. PURPOSE: To allow you to control printed output format.
  249. THOTS:   Left Margin:  # of spaces from the left edge that printing begins.
  250.          Right Margin: # of spaces from the left edge that printing stops.
  251.          Top Margin:   # of blank lines at the top of a page.
  252.          Lines/Page:   # of PRINTED lines per page before a form feed (page 
  253.                           break).  If you specify 0 (zero), no form feeds 
  254.                           will be issued and lines will print consecutively.
  255.          Example:      Most printers have 80 spaces/line and 66 lines/page.
  256.                           For left and right margins of 5 spaces and top 
  257.                           and bottom margins of 5 lines, use:
  258.                              Left Margin = 5   Right Margin = 75
  259.                              Top Margin  = 5   Lines/Page   = 56

  269. [DEFINE PRINTER CODES]
  270. PURPOSE: The optional Printer Codes are provided to use your printer's 
  271.      special fonts or printing styles.  You use the Initialization Codes
  272.      to change your intial font or printing format.  You use the  
  273.      Highlighting ON/OFF Codes to have Search words underlined, bold-
  274.      faced, in italics, etc.
  275. THOTS:   The Description field is for you to enter the purpose of the codes
  276.            i.e., "Underlining ON".
  277.      Initialization Codes are used before printing anything.
  278.      Highlighting ON Codes are used before a search word.
  279.      Highlighting OFF Codes are used after it.
  280.      The codes call for the DECIMAL equivalent of ASCII code(s) that
  281.        your printer uses to change modes.  See your printer manual.  
  282.        Enter the codes in order, leaving any extra codes set to -1.
  283.          Examples: Underlining ON:  Most Epson printers:    27  45  1
  284.                     Most Okidata printers:  27  67
  285.            Underlining OFF: Most Epson printers:    27  45  0
  286.                     Most Okidata printers:  27  68

  291. [DIRECTORY DIALOG]
  292. PURPOSE: To allow you to specify file directories for SeedMaster created 
  293.        files other than the SeedMaster directory.
  294. THOTS:     The default for all directory type is the SeedMaster directory.
  295.      To change to another directory, that directory must exist.
  296. ENTER:     Search File Directory is the directory in which search files 
  297.        will be stored.  
  298.      Notepad File Directory is the directory in which Notepad files 
  299.        will be stored.  You may want to specify the directory of
  300.        your word processor or editor.
  301.      Commentary File Directory is the directory in which the
  302.        commentary files are stored.  You may wish to have multiple
  303.        commentary directories if more than one person uses 
  304.        Seed-Master on the same computer.

  313. [MERGE HELP]
  314. PURPOSE: To allow you to merge a stored search with the current search on 
  315.      the screen using AND, OR, XOR or NOT logic.
  316. THOTS:     OR logic creates a new list containing ALL verses in EITHER 
  317.            of the original searches.
  318.      AND logic results in a new search containing only verses 
  319.        in BOTH the original searches.
  320.          "XOR" stands for "eXclusive OR".  It makes a list containing 
  321.        verses in either original search--BUT NOT BOTH.
  322.          NOT logic REMOVES from the screen list ANY verses in the 
  323.        disk-based search.
  324.      Example:  Screen contains verses: 1, 2, 3, 5
  325.            Disk search contains:   1, 2, 4
  326.            OR result:           1, 2, 3, 4, 5
  327.            AND result:           1, 2
  328.            XOR result:           3, 4, 5
  329.            NOT result:           3, 5
  330. ENTER:     To toggle a radio button ON or OFF, press the <Space> bar.

  335. [NOTEPAD SIZE]
  336. PURPOSE: To allow you to specify the amount of memory allocated to the
  337.        Notepad.
  338. THOTS:     This question is only asked when you enter a new Notepad.
  339.      The size is the maximum number of characters (or keystrokes) 
  340.        the Notepad can hold at one time.
  341.      As with all radio buttons, only one of the choices can be
  342.        made at one time.
  343. ENTER:     To toggle a radio button ON or OFF, press the <Space> bar.

  358. PURPOSE: To allow you to exit or quit a dialog window.
  359. THOTS:     If you press <Enter> on the OK button, you accept the changes 
  360.        you may have made in the dialog window before exiting.
  361.      If you press <Enter> on the CANCEL button, you quit the dialog
  362.        window and any changes you may have made are lost.
  363. ENTER:     To execute the appropriate button, press <Enter>.
  364.      To move to the next field in the dialog window, press <Down>
  365.        or <Tab>.
  366.      To move to a prior field in the dialog window, press <Up> or

  379. [SET RANGES]
  380. PURPOSE: To allow let you specify a full or restricted Search range.  For 
  381.            instance, you may be interested in a particular author's use of 
  382.            a word, say, Luke's.  You would set two ranges - the books of 
  383.            Luke and Acts, excluding the intervening John.
  384. ADD:     There are 5 methods to add a range:
  385.        <W>  Whole Bible:    Genesis through Revelation.
  386.        <O>  Old Testament:  Genesis through Malachi.
  387.        <N>  New Testament:  Matthew through Revelation.
  388.        <B>  Book:        Select book from book menu (standard order).
  389.        <S>  Specific Range: Select beginning and ending 
  390.                                   book/chapter/verse.
  391. DELETE:    <D>  You can delete a specific range by answering with the 
  392.                   appropriate range letter (A-Z).
  393.                 You can delete all the defined ranges (clear) by answering
  394.                   with an *.
  395. THOTS:   Your search range will be the CUMULATIVE range of ranges A to Z.
  396.        It is possible to define overlapping search ranges.  For example, 
  397.            you can set Range A to the Whole Bible, and Range B to the New 
  398.            Testament.  While this doesn't hurt anything, it isn't very 
  399.            productive either.
  400.          If you Delete all ranges and do NOT Add at least one, SeedMaster
  401.             will continue to use the previous search range definition(s).

  412.        address at the top of the form.
