This release of PC-VCO:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o This is the seventh release of PC-VCO (version 2.0 was released

corrected. A new voice driver is supplied.
o This version of CCHESS will not support paged redisplay with versions
of COM-AND later than 2.7, or before version 2.1. Other than that,
it will work happily with any version of COM-AND.
o Run instructions and installation procedures will be found following
this page.
o Any problems reported to the developer either through the U.S.
Mail or PLINK Mail or GEnie Mail will receive attention. You may

Run instructions:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To run PC-VCO with PROCOMM, QMODEM, etc.
(Install the release as described on the next page)
(Load your communication program, and dial your favorite service)
(Shell to DOS, and change to PC-VCO's subdirectory)
C> PC-VCO/P
(Run this way, PC-VCO's functionality is limited. Transcripting
and playback aren't available. All other VCO functions will
work just fine. 'Course, you don't have macros, either...)
To run PC-VCO (if COM-AND is available):
(Install the release as described on the next page)
C> PC-VCO
(Run this way, there is only the one accessory (PC-VCO) available
to COM-AND. PC-VCO, which you loaded above, loaded COM-AND,
in case that isn't clear. Press F1 to switch to VCO mode.)
To run VCOLIB:
(For menu mode, enter)
A> VCOLIB
VCOLIB old style: refer to VCOLIB document examples.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Set your current subdirectory to the subdirectory where you wish
to install PC-VCO... where you've already installed version 2.0
(if you have it)... where you've installed COM-AND (if you have).
2) Dearc the distribution file. Have a care not to overwrite files
you want to keep!
3) Load PC-VCO 'piggyback' (for installation purposes), i.e.:
C> PC-VCO/P <return>
. Check Alt-S
.. Remember to save the new settings.
. Check Alt-P
.. Choose the COM port you use (1/2/3/4).
.. Default speed selection is not important if you always use
the COM-AND or load PC_VCO piggyback. But set it anyway.
.. Remember to save new settings.
4) Exit PC-VCO with Alt-X

Additions and corrections:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------
PC-VCO additions and changes:
-----------------------------
o A new speech driver (VOICE.EXE) was created for use by PC-VCO. The
original interface to SPEECH.COM is retained. The default is to
VOICE.EXE (if it is found on the current subdirectory).
o /V0 and /V1 run-tim switches may also be used to differentiate between
SPEECH.COM (v0) and VOICE.EXE (v1).
o /VI and /VE switches were corrected in their usage.
o Text-to-phoneme conversion was added to PC-VCO. [SPEECH.COM was billed
as doing conversion... but that is not the case.]
o The exception file for SPEECH.COM was modified to be appropriate with
its arpabet. A new exception file was created for use with VOICE.EXE.
o Alt-F1 through Alt-F9 were added to issue expression commands.
o Hercules mode has been corrected to work with a broader range of
Hercules clones (BIOS recursion has been accomodated).
o Piggyback mode now correctly restores comm interrupts and settings.
This was not a problem per se, with most comm programs... but now
it works as intended (and PRO-YAM doesn't complain).
o Left and right cursors now change the pull-down menu when a pull-
down is 'down'.
-----------------------------
VCOLIB additions and changes:
-----------------------------
o VCOLIB now allows modification of 'pitch' and 'rate' values. These
values are used by VOICE.EXE.
o A /G forcing switch was added to VCOLIB for use when VCOLIB refuses
to recognize a hercules clone, and you are very sure it is a clone.

Related release; COM-AND:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COM-AND was originally released with Version 2.0 of PC-VCO. COM-AND
is a fully functional communications program, designed to support
integrated 'accessory' programs like CCHESS.
COM-AND supports multiple dialing directories, multiple macro
definition files, a powerful script language, Windowed XMODEM, XMODEM,
YMODEM (BBS style), Batch-YMODEM, CIS-B, CIS Quick-B, KERMIT, and
Super KERMIT.
COM-AND is being distributed (its ninth release) as CA28-1.ZIP
(executable), CA28-2.ZIP (documents), CA28-3.ZIP (scripts), and
CA28-4.ZIP (advanced script programming. COM-AND requires 384k,
DOS 2.0 or above. COM-AND may be used on either MDA, CGA, EGA
or Hercules adapters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Related release; CCHESS:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CCHESS is Conference Chess - two people can play chess over PLINK's
PARTY, CIS CB, etc. CCHESS provides a graphics depiction of a chess
board, and a log of the last few moves. Game play can be performed
entirely with a mouse (if you desire - not necessary). Games may be
saved, and restored later for continuation.
Version 1.2 is a production release - beta testing is complete.
However, I am still looking for comments, criticisms and thoughts
from those interested in on-line interactive gaming.
CCHESS is being distributed (its second release) as CCHESS12.ZIP.
Please read the CCHESS.DOC document for a description of CCHESS.
CCHESS may be used on either CGA, EGA or Hercules graphics adapters.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Related release; CBRIDGE:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CBRIDGE is Conference Bridge - four people can play bridge over
PLINK's PARTY, CIS CB, etc. CBRIDGE deals cards, displays hands,
displays (and protects) the bidding, and monitors game play.
Bidding can be reviewed at any time, as can game play.
Version 1.1 has completed its beta trials. It has found quite
usable. It may be 'rough' in spots... I am looking for comments,
criticisms and thoughts from those interested in on-line interactive
gaming.
CBRIDGE is being distributed (its first release) as CBRIDG11.ZIP.
Please read the CBRIDG.DOC document for a description of CBRIDGE.
CBRIDGE may be used on either MDA, CGA, EGA or Hercules adapters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Related release; CCOLOR:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CCOLOR is another accessory for conferencing. It tracks the conver-
sation, and assigns different colors to each speaker. Each speaker's
text is highlighted and easy to see. Of course, a color adapter,
CGA or EGA is required. It has to be seen to be appreciated!
CCOLOR is being distributed (its fourth release) as CCOLOR13.ZIP.
CCOLOR may be used on either CGA, or EGA adapters.
