-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This release of CBRIDGE:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o This is the second release of CBRIDGE. It is being released after
strenuous and exhaustive (I apologize for that, Dave, Richard, Tom,
and David...) beta testing. Version 1.1 has been proven under fire.
o This version of CCHESS will not support paged redisplay with versions
of COM-AND later than 2.7, or before version 2.1. Other than that,
it will work happily with any version of COM-AND.
o Run instructions and installation procedures will be found following
this page.
o Any problems reported to the developer either through the U.S.
Mail or PLINK Mail or GEnie Mail will receive attention. You may
contact the author:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To run CBRIDGE with PROCOMM, QMODEM, etc.

(Load your communication program, and dial your favorite service)

work just fine.)
To run CBRIDGE (if COM-AND is available):
(Install the release as described on the next page)
C> CBRIDGE
(Run this way, there is only the one accessory (CBRIDGE) available
to COM-AND. CBRIDGE, which you loaded above, loaded COM-AND,
in case that isn't clear. Press F1 to switch to game mode.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Set your current subdirectory to the subdirectory where you wish
to install CBRIDGE... where you've already installed version 2.0
(if you have it)... where you've installed COM-AND (if you have).
2) DeARC the distribution file.
3) Load CBRIDGE 'piggyback' (for installation purposes), i.e.:
C> CBRIDGE/P <return>
. Check Alt-S
.. If "Text Lines" is 2, set it to 10. Unless you want 2...
.. Remember to save the new settings.
. Check Alt-P
.. Choose the COM port you use (1/2/3/4).
.. Default speed selection is not important if you always use
the COM-AND or load CBRIDGE piggyback. But set it anyway.
.. Remember to save new settings.
4) Exit CBRIDGE with Alt-X

This release:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o This is the second release of CBRIDGE. This page will become
'additions and corrections' in the future.
Version 1.1 has been tested over a 6 month period on-line on GEnie
in the LapTops rountable. It has been proven under stress, and
is 'usable'.
Of course, it'll still be 'rough' in some places, and many cosmetic
and functional enhancements requested. Requests will only be
implemented if people downloading this and reviewing it find it of
interest... interesting enough to use it and to report back to me
difficulties and problems and desires... and to register.
In each of several matters mentioned in the document, I would
appreciate other's opinions. For example, a protocol for move
exchanges would ensure that moves are received by the opponent, and
ensure you are informed of a lost move. However - what should be
done at that point? Experience may show that no such protocol is
required - or experience may leave some very frustrated gamers.
The comments and criticisms I receive will be used to guide the
development of version 1.1 and further versions of this game. When
I feel that the program is satisfactory (to its users), I'll go on
to produce other card related on-line games.
Of course - if no one cares to register this, I'll drop it.
Please address any comments and criticisms you have - and bug
reports - to the ID TARTAN on either the GEnie or PLINK systems.

Related release; COM-AND:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COM-AND was originally released with Version 2.0 of PC-VCO. COM-AND
is a fully functional communications program, designed to support
integrated 'accessory' programs like CBRIDGE.
COM-AND supports multiple dialing directories, multiple macro
definition files, a powerful script language, Windowed XMODEM, XMODEM,
YMODEM (BBS style), Batch-YMODEM, CIS-B, CIS Quick-B, KERMIT, and
Super KERMIT.
COM-AND is being distributed (its ninth release) as CA28-1.ZIP
(executable), CA28-2.ZIP (documents), CA28-3.ZIP (scripts), and
CA28-4.ZIP (advanced script programming. COM-AND requires 384k,
DOS 2.0 or above. COM-AND may be used on either MDA, CGA, EGA
or Hercules adapters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Related release; PC-VCO:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PC-VCO is Visual Conferencing for the IBM PC. It is completely
compatible with all three flavors of MacIntosh VCO/VMCO. It has
been in use for more than a year by several groups of people. On
GEnie, the IBM RT has a regularly scheduled VCO conference every
Wednesday at 9PM Eastern Standard Time.
The concept of VCO is that each conference attendee draws a set of
16 (or 18) ICONs, and posts them publically. Other attendees down-
load the ICONs (called face files), and add them to their own lib-
rary of faces. 8 (or 9) expressions (happy, sad, etc) are supported.
When someone speaks in a VCO conference, the appropriate ICON is
displayed on all PC-VCO screens. People who've not uploaded face
files are depicted as Charlie Brown, Don Martin, or OPUS.
PC-VCO interfaces to a public domain text-to speech synthesizer.
The quality is less than might be desired, but its a start!
PC-VCO is being distributed (its seventh release) as PC-VCO22.ZIP.
PC-VCO may be used on either CGA, EGA or Hercules graphics adapters.

Related release; CCHESS:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CCHESS is Conference Chess - two people can play chess over PLINK's
PARTY, CIS CB, etc. CCHESS provides a graphics depiction of a chess
board, and a log of the last few moves. Game play can be performed
entirely with a mouse (if you desire - not necessary). Games may be
saved, and restored later for continuation.
Version 1.1 has been in use in various places now for some time.
Version 1.2 adds some cosmetic improvements. I am interested in
hearing from those interested in on-line interactive gaming.
CCHESS is being distributed (its third release) as CCHESS12.ZIP.
Please read the CCHESS.DOC document for a description of CCHESS.
CCHESS may be used on either CGA, EGA or Hercules graphics adapters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Related release; CCOLOR:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CCOLOR is another accessory for conferencing. It tracks the conver-
sation, and assigns different colors to each speaker. Each speaker's
text is highlighted and easy to see. Of course, a color adapter,
CGA or EGA is required. It has to be seen to be appreciated!
CCOLOR is being distributed (its second release) as CCOLOR13.ZIP.
CCOLOR may be used on either CGA, or EGA adapters.
