  7. Dear User of PC-VT;
  8.  
  9.     Enclosed is the latest version of PC-VT and its documentation.
  10. PC-VT runs on the PC, the PCXT, and the PCAT under DOS 2.x and 3.x.
  11. PC-VT no longer supports DOS 1.x. According to my users, it runs on many
  12. compatibles but I have not tested it on anything except a COMPAQ Deskpro
  13. 286. 
  14.  
  15.     The documentation file is named PC-VT.DOC and can be copied to
  16. any line printer. It's about 190 pages.
  17.  
  18.     This version of PC-VT is the complete Professional version which
  19. has been available for about 3 years. I have taken all of the
  20. enhancements (and bug fixes) of that version and moved them into the
  21. User Supported version of PC-VT. The Professional Version is no longer
  22. sold commercially.

  24.     Now more about the version 10.0 of PC-VT. It includes an
  25. enhanced version of the VT-100 emulator and a Tektronix 4010/4014
  26. emulator. It supports both 132 column mode and high resolution graphics
  27. with the addition of the Everex Edge board and high resolution graphics
  28. with the addition of the Hercules graphics board. It supports the VMS
  29. EVE editor as well as EDT and VI with special Keypad key bindings.
  30. Windows are used for file transfer and the program can be completely
  31. controlled by the host for automatic file transfer. The keyboard can be
  32. remapped to suit your taste, screen colors can be set with Escape
  33. Sequences, and you can recall screen data which has scrolled off the top
  34. of the screen.

  36.     I have versions of XMODEM for the VAX running VMS ,for UNIX
  37. System V and for UNIX 4.2BSD and a version of ZMODEM which runs under
  38. Unix. You can get those by sending me a formatted 360Kb diskette for
  39. each one you need and a pre-paid pre-addressed diskette mailer. Make
  40. sure you tell me which ones you want. The XMODEM and ZMODEM programs are
  41. public domain.

  43.     If you could upload PC-VT to your local BBS, I would appreciate
  44. your help. You can upload this READ.ME file, PC-VT.EXE, HELP.DAT, and
  45. PC-VT.DOC. If you receive this in a .ZIP file, just upload the entire
  46. .ZIP file. If you can put them into a .ZIP file please do and name it
  47. PC-VT100.ZIP.

  49.     To 'unzip' the .ZIP file, copy the contents of the diskette to
  50. a hard disk and type:

  54.     Both the EXE module and source for PC-VT are available for
  55. commercial distribution. Contact me for details of the licensing
  56. arrangements and fees.

  58.     Some of the enhancements for version 10.0 of PC-VT are:
  59.  
  60. 1. The dialer has been enlarged to 100 entries.
  61. 2. ZMODEM and YMODEM are now supported using the external DSZ program from
  62.     Omen Technology, Inc.
  63. 3. PC-VT Supports COM3 and COM4 for serial communications
  64. 4. The printer escape sequences are handled more like a VT terminal.
  65. 5. PC-VT does a better job of emulating the escape sequences to the local
  66.     printer.
  67. 6. PC-VT handles LPT1 through LPT4 and COM1 through COM4 for the
  68.     printer port.
  69. 7. RTS/CTS flow control has been added.
  70. 8. Added a SETUP feature to disable PC-VT Private Sequences.

  72.     Since this program is user supported, it is user driven. I
  73. continually make upgrades based on user requests.  I bump the version
  74. number only when a significant change occurs. Otherwise, I use a small
  75. letter after the numeric revision number. Here is the list of upgrades

  84. Known Bugs in the User Supported Version of PC-VT :

  86. None(yet!).

  88.     You can always get the latest version of PC-VT from me. Call my
  89. phone number below to find out what the latest version number is. I also
  90. keep the latest version on several San Diego Bulletin Boards. The best
  91. bet is the ATHENA SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT GROUP's board at 619-549-3927.

  93.     I also distribute a program which re-routes printer output to a
  94. disk file. It is called LPTx and 5 unique versions are available. Send a
  95. formatted 360K diskette and a self-addressed diskette mailer if you
  96. would like a copy. Seems to be most useful to users of dBaseIII+. You
  97. can also check for the program on the Athena Systems board mentioned
  98. above. The latest version is 7.0.

  100.     I hope that this program is of use to you. If it is and you
  101. register it by sending a $35 copyright fee, I will tell you how to run
  102. the program to get rid of the annoying "send money" message. For an
  103. additional $20, you can order the complete PC-VT printed manual.
