PROF-BBS 606-269-1565 COMPUSERV ID# 73200,1505
PROGRAMMER'S WORKSHOP 713-772-2090 PACIFIC NORTHWEST 206-232-1763
+=======================++=To use GTPCP==============================+
1. Check your modem init string to be sure that you are using the full
verbose codes. The modems on the network return "verbose" result
codes. Because of this you must change the "Modem Init String" to
include a V1 instead of a V0, and you must also change the "Modem
Result Codes" to their verbal couterparts.
2. Edit your GT.KEY file to modify the key assignments for your PC
Pursuit password and ID directory so you will not have to enter
them each time you run the scripts. To make the changes required
for the GTPCP scripts to run. Within GT press the ALT-M key to access
the Macro window, select menu option [F]orward to move to the "SHIFTED
FUNCTION KEYS" - then on this screen change 3 lines as follows:
Select [8] and type your PC Pursuit ID followed by a |
Select [9] and type your PC Pursuit Password and a |
Press [ESC] to save your changes
WARNING: GTPCP will not work unless the .KEY file active when
it is invoked contains SHIFT FN 8. PCPURSUITID| <-- With |
SHIFT FN 9. PCPPASSWORD| <-- With |
Also, upon exit the scripts will automatically return your dialing
directory to GT.DIR. If that is not you desired default, you can
change it by editing PCP-QUIT.SCR.
3. Copy the scripts ( *.scr ) into the directory (or drive) specified
in your GT profile for SCRIPTS (Use [ALT-I] from the main GT screen to
check your default).
4. IF YOU HAVE THE GTPCP200 directories you will either need to convert
them to GT1400 format with the GT-Util program or replace them with
the directories in the GTPCPD40.arc file. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE
GTPCP200 directories, you have two choices either download the
GTPCPD40.ARC and use them to get started with - they contain about
1800 Pursuitable BBS numbers and are structure to work with the scripts
or manually create a directory for each of the PCP node codes with the
same name as the PCP node codes. IE: TXHOU.DIR. You can do this by
using the [E]xchange option from the GT Dialing Directory repeatedly
for each node. NOTE TO FLOPPY DRIVE USERS: Due to the size of the
directories, the GT or GTO program diskettes can not hold the directories.
Use a separate diskette(s) and change your GT profile to indicated the
drive for the directories.
5. Add the local PC Pursuit telephone number to the phone directory
you usually use and input as the logon script at the directory
entry "Script" prompt:
PCP-1200 if you are using a 1200 baud or less modem +=OR=+
a 1200 baud TeleNet dialin line
PCP-2400 if you are using a 2400 baud or more modem +=AND=+
a 2400 baud TeleNet dialin line
6. Edit the directory entries for each board that you have already
been verified on to include 2400 baud if the city now supports it and
and you are now going to be accessing the board at that baud rate.
6. Edit the directory entries for each board that you have already
been verified on to include your password.
+==========================Trouble Shooting============================+
Life with Telenet's PC Pursuit is not always easy. The network and the
outdial and indial modems are subject to change and to doing strange
things that can throw the GTPCP scripts off. I tried to provide for
some of the more common problems but I can not cover all that might
happen. If you run into a problem, try the following:
1. Using ALT-X to leave a node, the PCP Node Menu does not come back,
send a D| to the modem until you get a disconnect, then issue several
escapes, then use ALT-3 to run PCP-Node to get the menu.
2. The window does not go away when connect to a node, use ALT-3 to run
Rnwin to remove the window.
3. The redialer returns strange codes, first try to redial the city, then
quit and log on again. You may have hit a bad outdial modem or line.
4. The quit sequence seems to hang, try sending a series of D| until you
see DISCONNECTED, then send HANGUP. That should get you off.
5. You get a NOT OPERATING, check to see if you selected the right baud
rate for the node, if so let the script try a few more times; if not
use the CTL-K command to return to the Node Menu.
+=======================GTPCPS40.ARC - Script Files======================+
Directory files are not included in the script release GTPCPS40.ARC
but are in the separate achrive file named GTPCPD40.ARC. Script files
included in GTPCPS40.ARC are:
PCP-1200 SCR Logs on to PC Pursuit - for 1200 baud access
PCP-2400 SCR Logs on to PC Pursuit - for 2400 baud access
PCP-CITY SCR Allows selection of desired PCP Node and baud
PCP-DIAL SCR Dials selected node and changes directory
when connected; repeats 100 times if busy
PCP-NXCH SCR Dials Net Exchange, repeats when busy
(National TELENET PC PURSUIT Support BBS)
PCP-PRTL SCR Dials Portal, repeats when busy
(another national telecomm network)
PCP-EXPC SCR Dials Exec-PC, repeats when busy
(Largest National BBS - call direct with PCP)
PCP-QUIT SCR Logs off Telenet and restores default dir
The usuage of GT PowerComm scripts is fully explained in the GT
manual. Key commands used in GTPCP are:
Dialing Directory . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Press Alt-D
Return to Script from online . . . . . . . . . . Press Alt-X
Stop Redialing of City and return to Menu . . . . Press Ctl-K
You can use the hangup command to leave PC Pursuit but if you do you
must reset your directory to the default manually with the "E" command
from inside the directory. Use of the QUIT from the Node Menu does this
for you as well as leaving the Telenet network properly rather than
just dropping carrier. GTPCP also allows you to directly dial the PC
Pursuit BBS "The Net Exchange" run by Telenet without accessing area 201.
The BBS has multiple nodes directly accessable from the @ prompt.
Type NXCH from the Node Menu to access the board.
+=================GTPCPD40.ARC - Directory Files======================+
Script files are not included in the directories release GTPCPD40.ARC
but are in the separate achrive file named GTPCPS40.ARC. Individual
Directory files for each PCP Node with over 1000 bbs numbers are included
in GTPCPD40.ARC.
Developing these scripts was harder than it may seem. I could never have
done so with out borrowing from many sources - earlier scripts for GT by
John Huffman and Paul Meiners (the author of GT Power), files on the Net
Exchange by TeleNet personnel, and finally friends and friendly SysOps.
Particular thanks for helping with the lastest version of these scripts go
to RICH KUNTZ, Sysop of Pacific Northwest and to PAUL MEINERS, Sysop of
The Programmer's Workshop and author of GT Power 1400 program.
