INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for "The Retailer"
Version 4.05 12/16/91
1. Insert PROGRAM DISK into a floppy drive and close the
door.
This software is distributed in a packed form. The install
program will unpack the programs, create directories and
subdirectories on the DRIVE:\DIRECTORY that you specify
during installation.
2. Start the installation by typing [DRIVE]:install.
Assuming you are using drive A type: A:INSTALL <Enter>
The install program will copy the programs onto the default
drive:\directory: C:\RETAILER
Or, you may select any valid DRIVE:\DIRECTORY during the
installation process.
3. Follow the prompts on the screen. The install program
will also ask you if you wish to install a small set of
sample data that is included for the tutorial that is in the
MANUAL.DOC file. Do NOT select the sample data if you are
upgrading "The Retailer" to a newer version. Your existing
inventory data could be lost.
Note: The install program writes an initialization file. It
contains the DRIVE:\DIRECTORY that is used to locate program
files. The software will not work if you later decide to
copy the programs to another drive:\directory. Use the
original disk and the install program to reinstall to
another drive. Or, follow the special BBS install
instructions by typing: SETUP [Enter].
Monochrome Monitors: "The Retailer" can detect what type of
monitor you are using. However, some older machines may have
a Monochrome Monitor connected to a CGA video card. The
software will use color commands that may not be visable on
your monitor.
If you can't see the menu selections when you run the
program then you may have to run a DOS command to set the
system to black and white mode. Use the DOS command: MODE
BW80 to set the correct video mode before you start "The
Retailer". See your DOS manual for more on the MODE command.
