  2.                   VRS 20 SHAREWARE VERSION INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  5.         OVERVIEW
  6.  
  7.           Use these instructions (instead of the instructions in the
  8.           VRS 20 Guide) to install this Shareware version of the Vehicle
  9.           Record System to your floppy disks or to your hard disk.
  10.

  13.         HARD DISK SYSTEM
  14.  
  15.         - INSTALLING THE DEMO -
  16.  
  17.           Assuming your hard disk is drive C: and you are copying from
  18.           the floppies in drive A:, do the following:
  19.  
  20.           1)  Create a subdirectory on your hard disk by typing:
  21.  
  22.               C>MD\VRSDEMO  (press ENTER)
  23.               C>CD\VRSDEMO  (press ENTER)
  24.  
  25.           2)  Insert the PROGRAMS disk into drive A and type:
  26.  
  27.               C>COPY A:*.*  (press ENTER)
  28.  
  29.           3)  Insert the DOCUMENTATION disk into drive A and type:
  30.  
  31.               C>COPY A:*.BAT   (press ENTER)
  32.               C>COPY A:*.CTL   (press ENTER)
  33.               C>COPY A:TRU*.*  (press ENTER)
  34.  
  35.           4)  Enter: VDRIVE and then enter the letter for your hard disk.
  36.  
  37.           5)  Enter: DEMO and then VMENU to begin the Demo.

  40.         - INSTALLING THE VRS 20 FOR YOUR OWN VEHICLES -
  41.  
  42.           Assuming your hard disk is drive C: and you are copying from
  43.           the floppies in drive A:, do the following:
  44.  
  45.           1)  Create a subdirectory on your hard disk by typing:
  46.  
  47.               C>MD\VRS20  (press ENTER)
  48.               C>CD\VRS20  (press ENTER)
  49.  
  50.           2)  Insert the PROGRAMS disk into drive A and type:
  51.  
  52.               C>COPY A:*.*  (press ENTER)
  53.  
  54.           3)  Insert the DOCUMENTATION disk into drive A and type:
  55.  
  56.               C>COPY A:VRS.CTL   (press ENTER)
  57.               C>DEL GO.BAT       (press ENTER)
  58.               C>DEL READ         (press ENTER)
  59.  
  60.           4)  Enter: VDRIVE and then enter the letter for your hard disk.

  62.           5)  Enter: VMENU and then press SF3 to create your vehicle(s).

  66.         FLOPPY DISK SYSTEM
  67.  
  68.           3½" Floppy Disk System - Format 1 disk WITH DOS, copy the
  69.               DOS COMMAND.COM file to it and label it 'VRS 20 Programs'.
  70.               You can boot (start) your computer with this disk in A.
  71.  
  72.           5¼" Floppy Disk System - Format 1 disk WITHOUT DOS, copy the
  73.               DOS COMMAND.COM file to it and label it 'VRS 20 Programs'.
  74.               You will need to boot (start) your computer with your DOS
  75.               disk.  (NOTE: If you have an older (smaller) version of
  76.               DOS you may be able to format this disk with DOS and still
  77.               have room for the VRS 20 programs - try it and see).
  78.  
  79.           Both Systems - Format 2 more disks without DOS  and label them
  80.               'My Vehicles' and 'Demo Vehicle'.

  83.           Install the programs and files from the distribution disks to
  84.           your disks by doing the following:
  85.  
  86.           1)  Insert the VRS 20 PROGRAMS disk into drive A and your
  87.               'VRS 20 PROGRAMS' disk into drive B and type:
  88.  
  89.               A>COPY *. EXE B:       (press ENTER)
  90.               A>COPY VDRIVE.CTL B:   (press ENTER)
  91.  
  92.           2)  Insert the VRS 20 DOCUMENTATION disk into drive A and your
  93.               'My Vehicles' data disk into drive B and type:
  94.  
  95.               A>COPY VRS.CTL B:   (press ENTER)
  96.  
  97.           3)  Leave the VRS 20 DOCUMENTATION disk in drive A and insert
  98.               your 'Demo Vehicle' data disk into drive B and type:
  99.  
  100.               A>COPY *.BAT B:    (press ENTER)
  101.               A>COPY *.CTL B:    (press ENTER)
  102.               A>COPY TRU*.* B:   (press ENTER)
  103.               A>B:               (press ENTER)
  104.               B>DEMO             (press ENTER)
  105.               B>A:               (press ENTER)

  108.           To run the Demo - Insert your 'VRS 20 PROGRAMS' disk into
  109.              drive A and your 'Demo Vehicle' data disk into drive B
  110.              and Enter: VMENU
  111.  
  112.           To track your own vehicles - Insert your 'VRS 20 PROGRAMS'
  113.              disk into drive A and your 'My Vehicles' data disk into
  114.              drive B and Enter: VMENU and then press SF3 to create
  115.              your vehicle(s).

  118.           NOTE:  You may want to limit the number of vehicles per
  119.           data disk to 2 or 3 to allow for the growth of the data
  120.           files.
