  2.          Instructions to use the Automatic Backup procedures:

  5. Format  a disk,  label it 'Prospect Backup #1.'  Go the Other  Options 
  6. Menu and observe selection 3: Toggle 'Detour' Help screens.  Make sure 
  7. that selection 3 shows [now off].
  8.  
  9. Place  the backup disk into drive A.   When you exit the  program,  it 
  10. will  ask you if you want to back it up.   At this point,  enter a '1' 
  11. without  an  'Enter' to show acceptance.   The next screen  will  then 
  12. display 'A:'.   Press the 'Enter' key to accept that value.   At  this 
  13. point,  the  program will drop you into your subdirectory,  \PROSPECT.  
  14. The program has not yet backed up the data.   IN-CONTROL [TM] does not 
  15. contain  enough internal memory to execute the  compression  utilities 
  16. that  actually  backup the data,  so it does the next best  thing:  it 
  17. creates a batch file called 'BACKUP.BAT' that it wants you to  execute 
  18. manually.  Execute:

  23. Let's  say  that  you  backup the data  on  January  15.   the  backup 
  24. procedure will create this file:
  25.  
  26.                              0115ACS.ARC
  27.  
  28. The '01' stands for the month, while '15' shows the day.  In this way, 
  29. the  backup  files will not overwrite each other on the  backup  disk.  
  30. When fill,  the backup procedure will tell you that 'for some  reason, 
  31. the  program  cannot copy over the file to the disk.'  At this  point, 
  32. place a write-protect tab onto backup #1,  format a second disk, label 
  33. it  'Prospect  Backup #2',  use it until full,  then swap  the  write-
  34. protect tab with Backup #1, reformat #1, and use it from scratch.

  36. By doing this,  you will always be alternating back and forth  between 
  37. the two backup disks as each becomes full.
