  1. The following describes system considerations for the proper
  2. use of the Secrets of STARGATE CD-ROM.  Please take the time
  3. to familiarize yourself this Read Me file.
  4.  
  5. To use Secrets of STARGATE you must have QuickTime for Windows
  6. installed on your computer.
  7.  
  8. Version 1.1.1 of QuickTime for Windows has been included on 
  9. this CD-ROM.
  10.  
  11. You may install QuickTime for Windows and a STARGATE program
  12. group by opening the SETUP.EXE program.
  13.  
  14. If you already have QuickTime for Windows 1.1.1 (or later)
  15. installed, you do not need to open the SETUP.EXE program.
  16.  
  17. The SETUP.EXE program will install a program group that will
  18. access from your CD-ROM drive a low memory version of the 
  19. program. The low memory version is named STARGATE.EXE and is 
  20. designed for use on PCs with less than 8 megabytes of memory.
  21. We recommend that low memory PCs use this version in 
  22. conjunction with a virtual memory setting of at least 5 
  23. megabytes (or more).  You may review and, if necessary, edit
  24. your virtual memory settings from within your memory manager.
  25.  
  26. An alternate version of the Secrets of STARGATE has been 
  27. included for PCs with more memory.  This program is named
  28. STRGT_HI.EXE and includes background music and increased 
  29. performance, depending upon the amount of memory available in 
  30. your PC. This version of the program may be using by opening 
  31. it directly from the Secrets of STARGATE CD-ROM.

  33. Either version of the program requires that your video card 
  34. be set for 256 (8-bit) color.  It is preferable that your 
  35. monitor be set to 640x480 resolution, although larger sizes 
  36. should function properly depending upon the manufacture 
  37. of your video card.

  39. If you are having trouble running Secrets of STARGATE, please
  40. confirm that your computer and accessories are functioning 
  41. correctly independent of this CD-ROM. Also, please make sure
  42. that your PC is configured as described Guidebook that came 
  43. with your CD-ROM.  If you are having trouble while using 
  44. the high memory version of the program (STRGT_HI.EXE), you 
  45. should switch to low memory version (STARGATE.EXE).
