When you ask to complete a find, it may find many cards which fit the description you provide. You select from the Find list which card you want to see first, but it wouldn't be terribly convenient to have to return to the list every time you wanted to see another card on the same topic. When you click on the match icon, the program will select the next match occurrence of the Find pattern, even if it is on the same card as the previous occurrence. It differs from the Card icon only in that it will treat two finds on the same card as distinct.
