  3. This is an application dock program which is similar to backdrop utilities,
  4. in that it allows application icons to be arranged in a nice way and the
  5. applications to be started without having to deal with directory windows.
  6. The design is similar to the Application Dock that forms part of the NeXT
  7. Step system on NeXT computers.
  8.  
  9. How to use it:
  10.  
  11. Simply drag an application or a directory on one of the square buttons on
  12. the right side of the desktop.

  14. If you dragged an application:
  15. o its icon is show on the button
  16. o double-clicking on it starts the application
  17. o double-clicking with shift held down opens its directory
  18.  
  19. If you dragged a directory: 
  20. o the name is shown on the button. 
  21. o as most names are to long to fit in one row, the application dock tries to
  22.   split the names at a sensible position, e.g. directory names as NewFiles
  23.   are split into 'New' and 'Files'.
  24. o double-clicking on it opens the directory
  25.  
  26. You may define keyboard shortcuts for each entry in the dock, so that you
  27. are able to start them by one keystroke (if no other application intercepts
  28. the shortcut). Simply follow the submenu arrow of the Shortcut option on the
  29. main menu. The item is ticked if there is already a shortcut for the
  30. corresponding application/directory. Now select the key and the state of the
  31. control keys (none, Shift, Ctrl or Ctrl-Shift) and confirm the selection by
  32. clicking OK. You may cancel an existing shortcut by clicking on Off.

  34. Choosing 'Insert' causes one free button to be inserted before the button
  35. over which Menu was clicked.

  37. Choosing 'Delete' causes the button over which Menu was clicked to be
  38. deleted.

  40. Choosing 'Save' from the menu causes the dock to be saved and be stored
  41. permanently.

  43. Note that if you have many applications in the dock, loading may take some
  44. time, as the dock utility executes the !Boot file of the applications in the
  45. dock (if they have not already be seen by the filer).

  47. If you want the dock to be loaded automatically at start-up, just add the
  48. following line to your !Boot file:

  50. DeskTop run <Path where your !AppDock is located>.!AppDock
  51.          
  52. This application is shareware, i.e. it may be copied freely, provided that
  53. no part of it is deleted or changed and that it is not sold for profit.
