  7. The EMANATE Agent product expands the scope of SNMP management via modularly
  8. extensible management agents. EMANATE agents are constructed in a modular
  9. hierarchial manner and consist of a master agent, plus subagents which support
  10. various MIB modules. The result is a runtime extensible agent which can
  11. dynamically reconfigure to connect or disconect those subagent's MIBs without
  12. needing to recompile, relink, or restart the agent
  13.  
  14. The EMANATE system is ideal for use in multivendor environments, such as
  15. monitoring and control of open workstations and servers. The modularity of the
  16. EMANATE design reduces the need to coordinate management aspects of multiple
  17. development projects within large companies. It provides an open environment
  18. for multiple subagents to coexist in the same environment. Subagents are
  19. completely compatible with the recently defined security and privacy
  20. enhancements to the SNMP framework.
