Quake 2 Configuration Script
============================
Version: Release 1
Date: January 5, 1998
Author: Suicidal-Sniper
Site: None
Introduction
------------
Well this is the first script set of mine that I have made public, hopefully you will
find it as useful as I do in playing Quake 2. I will state now that I do not know how
this script will perform in DM over the Internet. It works fine in a LAN, but I haven't
had much success lately connecting to a Internet Server. Also, the script file has been
designed around how I prefer to play Quake 2, feel free to redesign the keyboard layout
to suit your playing style.
On a side note, some of this script is already being made for Team Fortress 2. Although
nothing has been released concerning special commands, I still have added what I can.
It isn't hard to change it back to normal DM variables.
Installation
------------
Simply unzip ssv1.zip into your "quake2/baseq2" directory and then enter the game and type
"exec ss.cfg" in the console. Also, you can edit the autoexec.cfg and place at the bottom
of the file "exec ss.cfg" if you so wish.

Aliases
-------
I have a few aliases bundled in this script, mostly from exploring to see
how much scripting has changed from Quake to Quake 2. Here is the list;
Rocket Jump:
Pretty much a standard inclusion in scripts these days. Requires you to
have to Rocket Launcher selected.
CD Functions:
Enables you to flip through the CD tracks of Quake 2. I've also added the script
for another CD, use that as a template for your favourite Audio CD.
Name Funciton:
Not a great need for something such as this, but sometimes I find it comes in
handy. It just enables you to select another nickname quickly.
Secondary Weapons Function:
It took me ages to get this working right in Quake 2. Don't ask me why, but Quake 2
seems to be more fussy about how aliases are laid out. The set-up is pretty simple.
Select your primary weapon with 1-0 and select your secondary weapon by holding down
CTRL and then hitting 1-0. When you click on your left mouse button, it will switch
to and fire your primary weapon while clicking the right mouse button it will switch
to your secondary weapon and fire. If you run out of ammo for your primary/secondary
weapon, the script will default to your highest numbered weapon.
Comments/Menu Option Functions
While I have a very hard time playing Internet DM, I still have functions in here
for it. Quite simply, hitting INSERT will switch the function keys from the normal
menu operations to comments. Hitting INSERT again will revert it back to menu
operations. This enables you to double the amount of commands associated witht the
function keys.
Zoom Function:
A simple Sniper zoom. It also has mouse sensitivities in it, so if you the sensitivity
is changed, you will also have to change it there as well. I did this to give much better
control while in a zoomed state.
Move & Talk:
This is mainly pointed at Team Fortress 2 when it appears, but it can be altered so
it just does say commands and not say_team commands. Not much actually use, but it
will make talking to someone up-close look a bit better :)
Thanks
------
Wish to thank Id Software, once again they have made a killer game, although I didn't
like the altering of the set command, I've managed to live with it :)
Jack Frost, mainly because I stole his readme.txt (I only go for the best ;), but also
for his great site, it's helped a lot with Quake and I'm sure it will do the same with
Quake 2.
To anyone who makes there scripts public. You helped not only myself, but countless others
in understanding how scripts work in Quake and Quake 2. You should be thanked.
To myself... I spent a lot of time learning how to make this stuff for Quake and I feel
a certain amount of pride that I made all this by myself.
