  3. PassApps 1.9F is a Shareware Password Protection
  4. program for the Agenda and Data Applications of the
  5. Psion S3a, S3c AND Siena. It has been written in OPL
  6. and will work ONLY on the Psion 3a/3c/Siena models,
  7. *BUT* there are SPECIFIC versions for each machine.

  10. the *PSION 3A VERSION* of PassApps ONLY.

  34. lets get down to it :-)

  38. This ZIP file should contain the following:
  39.  
  40.     Pasapp3a.txt (this file)
  41.     Pasagn3a.opa (the Agenda protection program)
  42.     Pasdat3a.opa (the Data protection program)
  43.  
  44. You can either install BOTH the .OPA files, or pick
  45. which ones you want!
  46.  
  47. Although both the .OPA files WILL run on the 3c models, the
  48. Agenda and Data icons on the 3c are different to that of the
  49. 3a.  As a result, it is wisest to use the special 3c only
  50. versions that have the new icons and not the 3a ones.  This
  51. version will NOT run at all on the Siena models
  52.  
  53. Installation
  54. ************
  55. This is very straight forward, simply put the .OPA(s) you
  56. need in any directory (on any disk), preferably \APP.  If you
  57. require the on-line help, then put APPS.HLP in the M:\OPD
  58. directory.

  60. Then you must UN-INSTALL the application you wish to protect
  61. from the System screen.  E.g. if you want to install PassAgn,
  62. then highlight the Agenda icon on System and Press "PSION-/" to
  63. un-install it.  Now you must install PassAgn in its place, so
  64. press Psion-I, move to the program PassAgn and confirm it.

  66. The above procedure applies to both PassAgn AND PassDat.  More
  67. details of exactly how to install and un-install files can
  68. be found in the 3a manual.

  74. *Un-ambiguos files named Agenda.ini and Data.ini will be   *
  75. *created in the \OPD directory of your internal drive. Each*
  76. *stores the password you have chosen for that program (i.e.*
  77. *Data.ini stores your password for PassDat and Agenda.ini  *
  78. *stores it for PassAgn. However, both programs encrypt the *
  79. *passwords so it's not as un-safe as it sounds!            *

  82. About the Prog
  83. **************
  84. I wrote this prog because I wanted to have some form
  85. of protection for the Agenda App on my Psion. Simple
  86. as that really.  I then thought that once I had got it
  87. into an acceptable state that it would be of use to 
  88. other Psion users.  After some requests, I also build
  89. a second program into the PassAgn idea called PassDat
  90. which adds password protection to Data.

  94. P.K.Spencer is a 16 year old from Aylesbury.  He has
  95. very little OPL experience and is learning to write
  96. programs. This is one of his first attempts. The Prog
  97. appears to have no bugs but if you find any or have any

  116. Registering
  117. ***********
  118. PassApps 1.9F is distributed as Shareware.  To register
  119. on Compuserve, GO SWREG 11899 or send 5 UKP to the
  120. above address with either your E-Mail address so I can
  121. mail the code to you or with a an SAE. This code will
  122. disable the nag screens, pauses, etc. 5 UKP isn't a lot
  123. to register and it'll help me develop future versions
  124. (and other programs). I don't have much time free as
  125. I'm doing my GCSE's so I need an incentive :-)

  127. NOTE:   You only need to register ONCE, as the code that
  128.     you will be given will work for BOTH PassAgn
  129.     AND PassDat!

  138. How to Use PassApps
  139. *******************
  140. The first time you run either program, you will be asked
  141. for a password you wish to use and also to re-enter the same
  142. password for confirmation.  You will then be passed on
  143. to the start-up screen.  This is the screen you will
  144. encounter from now on when you enter the program again.
  145.  
  146. NOTE:   Each program uses a different password file, so you
  147.     must have a password for each.  This is to cater
  148.     for users who wish to use 2 different passwords.
  149.  
  150.     At the start screen you will have to enter the
  151. password you have chosen before you can run Data/Agenda, you
  152. also have the option to configure the program.  If you
  153. select NO to configuration, Agenda/Data will be launched with
  154. the file chosen or created via System (i.e. the file you pressed
  155. enter over beneath the program icon, or the file you specified
  156. by pressing Psion-N over the program's icon. 
  157.     If you select YES to configuration- you get passed
  158. to the main menu.  From here, you can change the password 
  159. PassAgn/PassDat uses, delete and rename files, register
  160. the program, activate the help file (if present) and
  161. bring up copyright/version information.

  164. NOTE:   If you switch away from the configure screen then
  165.     PassAgn/PassDat prompts you for the password again.

  169. Have you tried TimeMan?  This excellent and easy to use collection
  170. of Time related/time management utilities proves useful to almost
  171. every Psion user.  The latest version is 3.6F and the .zip is only
  172. about 40K - so why not download it from all the usual sources and
  173. of course from my web page - go one, give it a try!
