Welcome to the Provo Craft Hugware family. Hugware is not just another new product, it is a new experience. As you use Hugware, you will realize just how dynamic this product line is. The ImageArt Collections and the Hugbug Browser Lite are the heart of the program. These high quality images from top artists in the industry are perfect for your crafts, scrapbooks, newsletters, and any other project where you have a need for clip art. As you use Hugware you will see that the images come in a variety of formats that will accommodate your crafting needs. You can choose from a painted JPG, Blended Color WMF or a Black and White WMF. Be sure and try your hand at coloring the black and white images in your favorite computer program. For those of you that have a need for higher end graphics, a Tiff format is also available on the CD. You can choose to view the images from your hard drive or from the CD. Be sure and click around the browser to see what each button does. DonÆt be afraid to click away, you canÆt break it, we tried. If you figure out a way to break it let us know, because we sure couldnÆt find a way.
The Hugbug Browser Lite will make your life so much easier. Your favorite images are just a click away. With the Hugbug you can scroll through the ImageArt and find the perfect design for your project. Once you have located your desired image simply right click on it to see a larger view. When you are ready to use the image you can simply click on the copy button and then go into your favorite compatible windows program and click the paste command (usually found under the Edit menu). Your selected image will appear in your project. You can now resize or move the image as you desire. One of the strong points of the Hugbug Browser is the drag and drop feature. To use the drag and drop feature, simply open the desired compatible windows program and the Hugbug browser. Select the desired image and click on it and drag it into the program. It is as easy as that! The images can be dragged from thumbnails or from the enlarged image. Remember to use the Alt-Tab keys together on your keyboard to toggle between the Hugbug and your selected windows program. You can move the Hugbug around over your windows program by clicking on the PC Hugbug Browser title and dragging it where you desire. The only catch to the drag and drop feature is that the receiving Windows program must also be drag and drop compatible. While many are, you'll likely run into some that aren't. It you attempt drag and drop and it does not work, the program that you are dropping to is probably not compatible. In this case, simply use the Copy and Paste function to use the image.
A very useful part of the browser is the search capability. Gone are the days of clicking through every image on your computer to find the perfect piece of clip art. Now your desired images are just a word away. As you create a layout for your son's basketball game, all you have to do is type in ôbasketballö and every image related to basketball in the current collection appears in your browser. You can also find the perfect font with the FontFinder. The Hugbug browser will catalog any installed PC font for viewing. Click on the FontFfinder and scroll though your growing collection of PC fonts. When you find your desired font, click on it to see the entire alphabet. Better yet, type in a keyword to locate a perfect font for your project. This feature helps you narrow down your search, but you will still need to go into whatever Windows program you are using and select the font name from the list there. .
We have added a few fun extras to each CD that are secondary to the Image Art collection and Hugbug Browser. First, with each CD you will receive 3 different themes, so that you can customize the browser to your taste. This doesnÆt change the functionality of the program, but it is a fun way to show your personality. Second, each CD comes with the pcCraftCard Lite. This is a simple application that will allow you to use and print the ImageArt. If you donÆt have any programs where you can use clip art, the pcCraftCard Lite will introduce you to the fun world of digital images. This is a very simple version of one of the many applications that we will be creating in the near future. Also included are some fun tutorials, biographies on the artists and digital articles from Creating Keepsakes Magazine.
Now lets go through each button on the Hugbug browser so that you will become familiar with them.
Menu
Clicking on this button will take you to the secondary features of this software package. Here you will find the Orientation, Tutorials, Artist Biographies, Publications and pcCraftCard Lite. There is also a button to take you back to the Hugbug browser.
About
This will give you more technical information about the browser. Here you will also get a better description of the different formats.
Help
This will give you a detailed description of what each item on the interface is for. Here you will also find the resources where you can get help if you need it. In this area you can connect right to our website, where you can learn, share and create.
CD View
Using this feature will allow you to view the images right from the CD. Be sure and click on the CD View help to understand how to use this. The easiest way to use the Hugware is to load it onto your hard drive. Due to the size of Tiff files, they will not be loaded onto your hard drive. If you need to access an image in the Tiff format, you will need to use the CD View. To return to a hard drive installed collection, click on the Collections button and select a new name.
FontFinder
This browser help you find the perfect font for any project. Let's say you're creating an invitation to a Halloween party. Instead of scrolling through hundreds of fonts found on your system looking for something spooky, go into FontFinder and type in Halloween. Appropriate PC fonts that you have installed will be displayed. You will still need to select the font from the font list within whatever Windows program that you are using, but FontFinder will help you find and view possible solution. New fonts are included on each ImageArt CD and will automatically be included in the FontFinder as well as in your windows programs. In your windows programs you can located them by scrolling down alphabetically to "PC".
Collections
Each time you add a new ImageArt Collection it will be automatically added to the Collections button. No extra steps are required. Just click on the name plate for the new collection and it will then be displayed.
Format
This button allows you to change between the different formats and colors. When you click on the different formats the images in the browser will change to this new format. As you use the image art with various programs, you will quickly learn which format is best to use.
Theme
Click on this button to change the appearance of your browser. Each CD includes 3 new themes. When you load a new ImageArt collection, the included themes will automatically be loaded.
Search
This is one of the most exciting features of the browser. To use the search feature, simply type in a keyword and click on go. Experiment with different words. You can even type in a part of the desired word to have it displayed (ei. "bask" instead of "basketball"). To return to the full colleciton of images click the off button.
Copy
Use this button to copy the desired image to your clipboard. The image can then be pasted into any Windows program using the Edit/Paste command.
Exit
This button allows you to quit the program. To reopen the browser click on the icon on you desktop. You can also access it by clicking on Start, thn Programs and then select PC HugWare from the list of programs on your system.
