  18. REQUIREMENTS
  19.  
  20.     Windows 3.x, mouse, VGA. I'm not sure if you can get by without at 
  21. least a 386, you're free to try.

  24. IMPORTANT: This program needs the file VBRUN100.DLL to work. Please refer to
  25. the Technical Notes section futher in this file for more details.

  28. INSTALLATION
  29.  
  30.     First, copy the files that came with Jeopardy Scorekeeper to your
  31. C:\WINDOWS directory by using File Manager. (If you get a message indicating
  32. overwriting the file VBRUN100.DLL, click OK; you only need one copy of this
  33. file.) Close File Manager and open your Games group in Program Manager.
  34. Select File...New and click on Program Item. In the Description box, type
  35. "Jeopardy Scorekeeper". In the Command Line box, type "\windows\
  36. jeopkeep.exe". You don't need to worry about the rest; just click OK. The 
  37. icon will be there and you're ready to go!

  40. OVERVIEW
  41.  
  42.     Jeopardy Scorekeeper is a scoring program that enables you to play
  43. along with the contestants on the Jeopardy! TV show. Choose the dollar 
  44. amount that the contestant chooses. If you guess correctly, that amount is
  45. added to your score, and if you guess incorrectly, the amount is subtracted.
  46. You can also bet on Daily Doubles and play Final Jeopardy. Do you have what
  47. it takes to beat the contestants on TV?

  50. HOW TO PLAY
  51.  
  52.     Watch along on the Jeopardy TV program as the contestant chooses a
  53. category and a dollar figure. On the computer screen, click on the button
  54. corresponding to the contestant's wager. Upon hearing the question (or 
  55. answer, rather,) you can choose to guess the correct response or pass if you
  56. don't know it. If you guess, listen to the correct response. If you got it 
  57. right, click the "Right" button. If you got it wrong, click the "Wrong" 
  58. button. Your score will change accordingly. If you pass on the question, do 
  59. nothing and click the dollar figure of the contestant's next choice. If you
  60. need further help, a direction window is in the top right corner of the
  61. screen.
  62.     When the game moves into Double Jeopardy, click on the "Double
  63. Jeopardy" button. The dollar figures will change accordingly.
  64.     If a contestant chooses a Daily Double, click on the "Daily Double"
  65. button. Then enter your wager. You can wager up to as much as you have, and
  66. if you have a negative amount you can wager up to $500. If you don't want to
  67. participate in the Daily Double, enter 0 as your wager. Then click on the OK 
  68. button. Then, click on the "Right" or "Wrong" button if you get the question
  69. right or wrong respectively.
  70.     When the Double Jeopardy round is completed, and the Final Jeopardy
  71. category is announced, click on the "Final Jeopardy" button and enter your
  72. wager. If you have less than $1 you will not be permitted to play Final
  73. Jeopardy. You can only wager up to the amount you have. Proceed as though it
  74. were a Daily Double, clicking on "OK" and then clicking on either the
  75. "Right" or "Wrong" buttons. The game will then be over.

  81.     New (F2): Starts a new game.
  82.     Exit (^X): Quits Jeopardy Scorekeeper.

  86.     Save Score on New Game (^S): Allows you to keep your score between
  87.         games, i.e., for a multi-game tournament.
  88.     Background Color: Customize your Jeopardy Scorekeeper window.

  93. TECHNICAL NOTES

  95.     Jeopardy Scorekeeper was made on Microsoft Visual Basic v. 1.0. To 
  96. work effectively, the program MUST be accompanied by the file VBRUN100.DLL. 
  97. You should either receive the file with this program or separately from the
  98. person or board you received this from.  If not, please contact me via
  99. CompuServe [70661,700] or by mail (see below for address) and I will upload or 
  100. or mail a disk (to minimize costs, I will send a low-density 5.25" disk, 
  101. please  tell me if this is a problem) to you at no charge. Note: 
  102. VBRUN100.DLL is a large (270+ KB) file. You only need one copy of this file.
  103. So if you have previously downloaded a Visual Basic application or have the
  104. Visual Basic program, you can delete this file. However, you should have a 
  105. copy of this file in the same directory as the Jeopardy Scorekeeper program.

  108. NEW IN VERSION 1.1

  110.     Minor changes to version 1.1 include the compacting of the window
  111. (so you don't get confused between Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy) and
  112. including the direction box.

  115. SHAREWARE INFO

  117.     Jeopardy Scorekeeper is Shareware. If you enjoy it, you should 
  118. register by sending $5 to:

  123. Please include your name, address, and where you got your copy of Jeopardy
  124. Scorekeeper. If you register, you will receive a disk (please specify 3.5" 
  125. or  5.25") of the latest versions of all completed Jon Persky Games so far. 
  126. The disk will only contain one copy of the file VBRUN100.DLL.

  128. You can also register electronically if you subscribe to CompuServe. Simply
  129. type GO SWREG and search for registration #258. The registration fee will 
  130. appear on your CompuServe bill. If you register by this method, the fee will
  131. be $6 instead of $5. This additional charge covers CompuServe's 15%
  132. processing fee. However, you may find this method more convenient, as you
  133. can include the fee on your CompuServe account and you don't have to bother 
  134. with sending cash or checks.

  136. Please remember that the only way I receive compensation for my time and

  138. with the complete set of Jon Persky Games in exchange for your registration.
  139. At the current time, the disk will include 6 games (see the "Won't You
  140. Please Check Out" section below.) With shareware, disk, and postage costs,
  141. this is a $32 value for your $5 registration! The good thing about shareware
  142. is that the author and the user both benefit from it a great deal. And, if
  143. you don't like the game, simply remove it from your hard disk and your only
  144. cost is any charges associated with downloading the program. Also, you are
  145. not required to pay registration for the games you receive upon registering
  146. this game.

  149. uncondensed format or pass it to your friends provided you do so at no cost
  150. and you keep the files JEOPKEEP.EXE and JEOPKEEP.TXT intact and unaltered.
