- F KEY LABELER
- DOCUMENTATION
-
- This program will create a label to fit around the
- function keys to help you remember their functions for
- specific programs. The first prompt is for the name of the
- program for which you are creating this label. The rest of
- the prompts are for the function key uses in this program.
-
- The first prompt for each key is for the "upper case"
- function, that is the function which requires the shift,
- alternate, or control key to be pressed while pressing that
- function key. The second prompt is for the normal function
- for that key.
-
- For example, if you were creating a label for Lotus
- 123, since Lotus only has one function per key, you would
- skip the first F1 prompt by just hitting enter, then in
- response to the second prompt, you would type HELP, for
- this is the function of the F1 key...and so forth.
-
- The complete example I have chosen to include is for
- the word processing mode of SYMPHONY. There are a few
- differences between this and the other modes so I use a
- separate overlay for each. The first prompt for each key
- will need the ALT function of that key, and the second
- prompt will need the normal function. At the opening
- prompt, enter SYMPHONY WP. At the next prompts, type the
- following capitalized words ending each with the enter key.
- COMPOSE HELP WHERE JUSTIFY SPLIT INDENT
- CENTER ERASE LEARN GOTO ZOOM WINDOW STEP
- USER DRAW CALC SWITCH SERVICE TYPE MENU.
-
- The main limitation with this program is that it must
- be used with an Epson dot matrix printer, or at least one
- that uses the CHR$(15) for compressed print, and CHR$(14)
- for expanded print.
-
- Before using your scissors, I suggest you put scotch
- tape on both sides of the paper covering the square which
- will remain after you cut it out. This will add a strength
- and lasting quality which you will appreciate later. It is
- also helpful to cut the right side as thin as possible
- without cutting off any letters. This will improve the fit
- between the function keys and the main keyboard. A final
- suggestion is to round off the bottom right corner so the
- heel of your left hand will not bump it.
-
- I hope this program will be as helpful for you as it
- has been for me.
