- NARC version 2.1 enhancements
-
-
- BUG IN RELEASE 2.0 !
-
- Extracting the highlighted file worked fine, extracting when all
- files had been tagged worked fine, BUT when you tagged, for example,
- the first and last file in the archive and extracted them, the first
- file would be fine, but the second file would actually be the second
- file in the archive, even though the filename was correct. We are
- very sorry that this has slipped through testing and hope that it
- has not caused any inconveniences.
-
- Random extraction bug.
-
- Oops! Release 1.3 had an extraction bug that showed up in some
- crunched files. This has been fixed in release 2.0
-
- Delete subfile bug.
-
- Oops again! Release 1.3 had a bug when deleting subfiles from an
- archive after having "viewed" a subfile and the total archive was
- less than 64K. This has been fixed in release 2.1
-
- Speed improvements.
-
- This version of NARC has a greatly streamlined uncruncher. The
- result is an additional 60-88% decrease in extraction times. Version
- 2.1 uses a very large stack, which avoids a time consuming link
- and relink operation on the string table when decoding each string.
-
- ALT-letter keys.
-
- The now common ALT-letter key combination can be used to locate
- specific files in the windows and the main screen.
-
- New directory tree.
-
- The SUB-WIND command has been totally replaced with a visual directory
- tree. From the tree you can change drives, make directories, remove
- directories and select a new directory. IT IS FAST !
-
- Expanded HELP.
-
- New context sensitive help system. The F1 or F10 keys will invoke
- the new help system.
-
- New View function features.
-
- The view function now has mouse support and a text search function.
-
- Search spec.
-
- NARC has always recognized the .ARC and .ARK file extensions. Now,
- however, you may change the .ARK extension to something else if you
- wish. This is done via the "S" command from either the ARC file window
- or from the main subfile screen.
-
- Expanded mouse support.
-
- Support of the mouse has been improved and extended to the view
- function and ALL menus.
-
- BIOS or DIRECT video writes.
-
- It is now possible to configure NARC to use BIOS for writing to the
- screen or the default of DIRECT video writes, with NARCCFG.
-
- Call your editor.
-
- Through environment variable support, it is now possible for you to
- call your editor from within NARC with the F9 key.
-
- Forced Black and white mode.
-
- The new NARCCFG program offers an option that forces NARC to come
- up in black and white mode.
-
- Repeat key.
-
- When NARC prompts for the destination path for extractions, the
- CONTROL-R combination will cause NARC to repeat the last extraction
- path (if any). You may even edit this path if desired.
