- GETTING STARTED:
- It's easy and intresting!
-
- Floppy User:
- This program will need it's own disk, So find a NEW disk
- and your DOS system disk,Put a write protect TAB on your DOS
- system disk and make sure NO TAB is on the NEW disk.
- Put the DOS system disk in the A: drive and the NEW disk in B:
- in your computer and RE-BOOT. Set the time and date.
- If you have two floppys place the NEW disk in B:
- then type....
- FORMAT B: /S/V <ENTER>
- (Or your DOS command to format the NEW disk and put the
- system/boot files into it.)
-
- If you have one floppy you will need to swap disk's around
- and use A: in the above format command.
- (Read you DOS doc's if your unsure of how to do this!!!)
- Once you got the NEW disk formated Give it a NAME (/V syntax)
- and give it a CONFIG.SYS file and a autoexec.bat file.
- (Exp.)
- (Config.sys)
- Copy CON: b:config.sys
- BUFFERS=25
- FILES=25
- BREAK=ON
- DEVICE=ANSI.SYS
-
- (THEN PRESS F6 OR CTRL-Z , FILE WRITES . NOTE: COPY ANSI.SYS FROM
- (YOUR DOS disk to your NEW disk!)
-
- HARD DISK USER:
- make a new directory from your root directory.
- Exp. MKDIR Pterm<enter>
- copy the photo-terminal MASTER self-ziped *.exe file
- to the new directory.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- ALL DISK USERS:
- Now that you have the phototerm master file (the one you D/l)
- just type it's file name, It's will start unZIPing one file
- at a time, there will be many files,
- ptrm-????.exe That's the main program (???= ver. number)
- LocalBBS.ASC This is a ASCII file you can add BBS #'s to.
- *.CRU Some DRAWING that I have done or programed.
- *.CRT CRT files are ready to up/Down-Load drawings.
- PhotoTRm.doc This doc file
- Morce. ASCII data file used by the Morse code terminal
-
- After all the files have been zip out you can copy the MASTER
- file that you downloaded to a floppy disk and put it some ware
- safe,As a back up , Are you could give it to a friend and start
- up graphic terminals in your area!!!
- If you only have a floppy system youl want to move that master
- file out to leave you some free disk space.
-
- RUNNING PHOTO-TERM:
- Just type the PTRM-???.EXE file name and it will start
- loading into ram (About 512k ram needed) The 1'st screen
- will prompt you about the programs CPU type (IBM or T2k)
- It will make some noise then list most of the terminal
- mode commands that you can use (ALT-Help menu).
- read it just this one time PLEASE.
- Press any key and the START UP MENU pop's out.
- C will let you set up for a modem on COM2: and set your screen
- mode for graphic's
- ESC will abort the program and drop you to DOS.
- If your modem's on COM1: your basicly ready to go on so
- select a BAUD speed from the box at the bottom of the
- screen (Don't press ENTER if you do you will get the defult
- of 300 bps. n-8-1)
- This will drop you in to the MORSE code procedure, It will
- look around for the morse code data file and translate it
- to ram for use latter. After that you will drop to the
- AutoDailer menu.
- (If you dont have the one I put in the master file ,,,
- ( some body stiffed you and you won't enjoy the program
- (as well! Call the update bbs's and get the MASTER pt-IBM file!)
- If the program can't find the localbbs.asc file it will prompt
- you if youd like it to make one. (Yes or No only)
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- (Autodailer menu CONT.)
-
-
- Once the file is there it will print out the 1'st 9 bbs
- numbers and prompt at the bottom of the screen for a dailer
- command.
-
- 1-9 = Dail the bbs # that you selected. (any key's to abort redail)
- . = Period will roll out the next 9 bbs number from the
- localbbs.asc file.
- L = Load this number into the Multi-Number-Dailer RAM.
- After you select L press the number for the bbs
- that you want loaded, It will display the pick at
- the TOP on the bbs number list (flashing), Thats it
- it's loaded! Now load some more from this screen or
- press "." for the more bbs number's.
- M = Start Auto dailing from the multi-# list. The program
- will call each number you (L)oaded into the list,
- If busy , it will call the next bbs in from the list
- of bbs's you loaded into ram useing the (L) command.
- It will repaet the loaded bbs's number till you press
- any key or it finds a bbs thats not BUSY, it will beep
- and flash the screen to call you to the keyboard.
- Space = Abourt dailer menu (back to terminal mode)
-
- Terminal Mode:
- Once connected to a bbs on while in terminal mode many commands
- are open to the terminal program.
-
- F1 = TRANSMIT A ASCII FILE
- A catalog of the current directory is displayed and your
- prompted at the top left to the screen for a file name.
- the program checks for a valid file then prompt for
- transfer info. CRT mode send a CTRL-R code then the
- graphics *.CRT file in ascii to the host system, this
- will hopefully let the file be downloaded by any phototerm
- user who wants to see the drawing.
- The CRT mode add's the CTRL-R to the file for bbs systems
- that dont offer DC2/DC4 or CTRL-R protacall but to have
- ASCII transfers.(PhotoTerm requires ASCII transfers or
- (the CPM protacall called CTRL-R.)
- if the system offers CTRL-R sometimes called CPM or
- DC2 protacall the drawings (*.CRT) can be AUTOMATICALY
- downloaded by phototerm users when the run in the
- GRAPHICS mode (See F9)
- F3 = End phototerm ,Exit program to DOS. (No conferm!!)
- F5 = Photo control menu. Load CRT or CRU files ,Edit CRT's
- draw CRU files, Copy CRU ram to CRT ram (for transfers)
- See both CRT or CRU ram,...etc....
- F6 = ECHO togel (to see what you type or cut it in half)
- F9 = Togel terminal mode. 3 setting's
- GRAPHICS mode: Use for c-64 bbs's that send color control
- codes,Phototerm can simulate c-64 color using the c-64 mode
- (See ALT-P menu,#11 color simulater mode settings)
- Mainly the graphics mode will be used when about to
- download a *.CRT file from a BBS to your system for
- viewing, If the bbs will send you a CTRL-R your terminal
- will (while in the graphics mode) automaticaly start a
- graphics transfer and you will see a report in the upper
- right window, each dot is 25 byte's of graphics data going
- down the phone line to your CRT ram buffer (20Kbytes or so)
- at the end of the transfer the remote bbs will send some
- text and that will end the transfer, The photo should POP
- up on the screen at this point. (If not PRESS F5 then Y)
- and youl see the drawing, you can resize it if need be
- by using the 1,4 5,2 and 6,3 keys to change the control
- byte's in the drawing. press "." to resize or Q to quit.
- MORSE CODE MODE: Use to turn on morse code , this will
- bleep out the morse code sound for each letter that the
- BBS send's you (great for HAM radio users or BLIND users!!)
- TURBO MODE: Use for 2400 bps. on IBM type bbs's, TURBO
- mode on PhotoTerm is one of the fastest ascii terminal
- Money can bye!!! Youd have to spend some money to get
- this kind of turbo out of most terminal programs and
- I think that it's worth $9 on it's own [ Think about it!]
- Turbo mode wont filter out any beeps the bbs send you.
- but will keep up with the best of'em!
- PhotoTerm will pick up words and lines at a time from
- the modem , not letter by letter as in graphics mode.
- turbo mode wont filter out c-64 or ansi contorl codes.
- F10 = Go to AutoDailer menu.
-
-
-
- SOME THINGS THE PROGRAM WON'T TELL YOU:
