  1.                 IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CANADIAN BACKMAILERS
  2. Alethic has had to shut down the Canadian 800 line due to some problems with
  3. Telecom Canada.  This means that to register BackMail in Canada, one must use
  4. the international registration line.  Follow these steps:
  5. (1) Using the Update Phone directory function from the main menu, add the
  6.         number of the international registration line which is:
  7.         (902) 429-7593, giving this whatever handle you please and the
  8.         appropriate prefix.
  9. (2) Go through the registration process as usual, filling out the form with
  10.         correct credit card information.  Note that using invalid credit
  11.         card information constitutes fraud upon which frown credit card
  12.         folk, telephone companies, and a number of government agencies.
  13. (3) Press <ESC> sufficiently many times to exit the main menu and return
  14.         either to the dos prompt or to your forground process.  This will
  15.         place the registration message into the queue for BackMail to send.
  16. (4) Press the hot key to bring back the main menu (default is <alt-1>) and
  17.         press 'O' to maintain outgoing mail.  Move the cursor down to the
  18.         message with subject "REGISTRATION" and press <F3> to readdress this
  19.         message.
  20. (5) When asked for an alternative subject, just press <RETURN>.
  21. (6) At the destination selection screen, select the BackMail international
  22.         line by whatever handle you have assigned.
  23. (7) Note that the international registration number is not toll free
  24.     you should monitor the progress of this call to make sure you connect.
  25.     BackMail will continue to call the 800 number but it will not connect.
  26. (9) Once registration is complete (you should receive two or more messages
  27.     during the process), go into OUTMAIL maintain and delete the
  28.     REGISTRATION message to the 800. BackMail will stop trying to call
  29.     the 800 number and will not create any more registration messages
  30. (10) If you cannot get through to the international line, or some other
  31.      problem overtakes you, contact Alethic at their voice number:
