  1.   This page gives you information about various programs that are typcially
  2. loaded into memory.
  3.  
  4.   Some memory resident programs use a special interrupt to communicate with
  5. other programs. By giving a special 'signature' with the command, many
  6. programs can share this one interrupt.
  7.  
  8. DOS:          Checks if DOS is readable!
  9.  
  10. DRIVER.SYS:   This is used to add in extra floppies, or to redefine a drive
  11.               that is not normally supported. Also, DOS 4 and newer
  12.               appear to support some of it's functions.
  13.  
  14. DISPLAY.SYS:  This is used when non-US display characters are needed.
  15.  
  16. ANSI.SYS:     This lets you display color, control the cursor, and
  17.               re-define keys.
  18.  
  19.               This check is supported by DOS 4 and newer ANSI.SYS, and the
  20.               5/91 (or newer) version of NNANSI. Other versions will
  21.               probably not be detected.
  22.  
  23. EGA.SYS:      This is used by Windows 3. Some of the registers used to
  24.               control the EGA are WRITE ONLY. EGA.SYS is an interface that
  25.               lets Windows keep track of things easier. Some mouse drivers
  26.               also support these calls.
  27.  
  28. PRINT:        This is DOS's program that will send a file to the printer
  29.               while running in the background. If PRINT is found, INFOPLUS
  30.               will display information about it on the right side of the
  31.               screen.

  33. ASSIGN:       ASSIGN lets you redefine drive letters. ASSIGN A=B B=A will
  34.               reverse the drive letters used by your floppies. ASSIGN by
  35.               itself cancels all redefinitions.
  36.  
  37. SHARE:        This is used to control access to files in network and
  38.               multi-tasking environments. Under DOS 4, it also prevents
  39.               problems when FCBs are used on large partitions.
  40.  
  41. NLSFUNC:      This is used when non-US displays and keyboards are wanted.

  43. GRAFTABL:     The CGA lets you redefine the upper 128 ASCII characters in
  44.               graphics mode. GRAFTABL loads the normal high-ASCII
  45.               characters for display. There are two entries, one for DOS 4
  46.               and older, the other for DOS 5 and newer.
  47.  
  48. NETBIOS:      This is an interface for networking.
  49.  
  50. SHELLB:       This is part of DOS 4's DOSSHELL program.
  51.  
  52. XMA2EMS:      This is a program for PS/2's that convert extended memory to
  53.               EMS memory.
  54.  
  55. APPEND:       Append lets you specify a PATH that is used when a program
  56.               attempts to open a file. It works similar to the PATH command
  57.               used at the DOS prompt. If found, extra information will be
  58.               displayed on the right side of the screen.
  59.  
  60. GRAPHICS.COM: This is a DOS program that lets the PrtScrn key print
  61.               graphics screen.

  63. Crit.err.handlr: When a critical error occurs, it's possible to have a
  64.                  special TSR handle things.
  65.  
  66. CDROM:        Some CDROM's might use this interface.
  67.  
  68. Network:      This is supposed to be a generic Network information call.
  69.  
  70. DOSKEY:       This is the command line editor for DOS 5.
  71.  
  72. DOS Extender: This is a new standardized check for DOS extenders. DOS
  73.               extenders allow programs to run in protected mode, accessing
  74.               more than 1M of memory.
  75.  
  76. SETVER list:  SETVER is a DOS 5 command that allows you to change the
  77.               version of DOS that a program sees. There are many programs
  78.               already set in the default configuration. You must re-boot
  79.               DOS to put any changes into effect.
