- 1. You need a computer
- Today's new computers are all fast
- enough for the Internet. If, however,
- your PC is a little older, make sure
- it's at least a 486 or a Pentium, with
- an absolute minimum of 16 MB RAM
- (we recommend 32 MB), or it will be
- too slow.
-
- If you have an Apple Macintosh, you
- will need at least a 68030 processor,
- 16 MB RAM and 40 MB hard drive
- space.
-
- 2. You need to install a browser
- This CD includes Microsoft's Internet
- Explorer, an Internet browser
- program. And remember, we're only
- a phone call away if you need any
- help.
-
- 3. You need a modem ...
- A modem is a device that connects
- your computer to a telephone line
- and converts computer signals into
- phone signals and vice versa.
-
- 4. ... and a telephone line
- With the help of the modem, your
- telephone line connects you to your
- Internet Service Provider. We
- recommend any Telkom-approved
- modem which operates at 28.8
- kilobits per second or faster.
-
- 5. You need an Internet Service
- Provider
- An Internet Service Provider, such
- as M-Web, is your gateway to the
- Internet. When you install the M-
- Web software, you'll go through an
- online registration process that will
- give you automatic access to M-
- Web. Here, you will be asked to
- supply your personal and bank
- details. On successful registration,
- you'll be issued with an e-mail
- address, an M-Web User ID and
- password which you will need each
- time you connect to the Internet.
