- 1. Introduction
-
- 10 years after 'The Tournament of Zulula'...
-
- The small and quiet city of Zulula has exploded, as it's tournament became
- more and more popular! Stronger and stronger races came from all over Akistar
- to prove that they are the best! What was chaos ten years ago is now a quiet
- day, the tournament is much bigger and lasts much longer! Creatures of evil,
- such as the slimy Protoplasmic Horror Shar-Ooz, the bone-crushing Giant
- Skeleton Kiro and the wretched Storm Giant Sharak Kilman act as tyrants in
- their part of the city. You came to Zulula for fame and fortune, but seeing
- all evil at work, you realize there is a cleaning job to do!
-
- Champions of Zulula sets itself 10 years after 'The Tournament'. You can
- select from an impressive list of 16 different races, including all your
- favorite 'Tournament of Zulula' characters! New races include trolls,
- peinchkas, golems and more! Battle in single matches, tournaments or the
- all-new 20 monsters bash where the only one standing at the end is the winner!
- And when you have accumulated enough victories, you will get your chance to
- defeat the evil boss-monsters that are threatening to take over the city!
-
- Champions of Zulula gives you twice the races and twice the number of monsters
- per tournament! The new '20 monsters bash' has to be seen to be believe, as
- many computer monsters and players fight in the arena
-
- Note: the term "player" designate a character played by a human (i.e. you)

- any of the 16 players or 32 computer characters and view the informations
- on all the 16 normal races.
-
- 4.2.1 Creating a character

- 4.3 The Arena: The Stone Coliseum
-
- The coliseum is where all gladiators ready for combat are. From the
- arena you can fight single matches, play a 16 monster tournament,
- a 20 monster bash or challenge one of the three evil lords.
-
- 4.3.1 Single match
-
- Single fights are especially good for training because they only
- give 1 point each. Use single fights to study the different
- races, how they react, how they hit etc.
-
- If "Player 1" is not "Inactive", the first player you select will
- be controlled by "Player 1". Otherwise, the computer will take
- care of controlling it.
-
- If "Player 1" is not "Inactive", the second player you select will
- be controlled by "Player 1". Otherwise, the computer will take
- care of controlling it.
-
- See section 5 for more information after you select the characters.
-
- 4.3.2 Elimination tournament
-
- Tournaments are less predictable than single fights, because you
- do not choose any of the opponents you will face!
-
- If all three players are "inactive", the computer will choose and
- controll all participants in the tournament, and the tournament
- will be resolved without any input from the player.
-
- The computer will prompt you for any "active" player to choose
- the character he will control. The slot in which the character
- will be placed is choosen randomly.
-
- A tournament is worth 20 points.
-
- See section 5 for more information after you select the characters.
-
- 4.3.3 20 monsters bash
-
- The bashes are a totally different story, it is a truly unique
- event that will pit your skills against up to 19 other opponents,
- with up to three opponents at a time. You select the players as you
- do in "the tournaments" (see above). In this case however, the
- slot number you end up in is extremly important, as explained below.
-
- See section 5 for more information after you select the characters.
-
- 4.3.4 Challenging the evil lords
-
- Inside and around the walls of Zulula, three evil lords are each
- developping an army to take control of Zulula (and the money gained each
- year by the tournament). They are:
-
- The protoplasmic horror Shar-Ooz: Shar-Ooz is one of the highest
- military officer of the Shugtar-Shooz army, in short, he is a 16 feet
- tall slime ready to engulf you!
-
- The Giant Skeleton Kiro: Kiro is a sergeant of Locmar, the God of
- Death. He is currently animating the undeads in the cemetary near
- Zulula. He wields a huge axe that can rip most other monsters out in a
- few hits.
-
- The Storm Giant Sharak Kilman: Kilman is a 18 feet giant. He believes
- that the giants should rule Akistar as they were before the Great War of
- Freedom, and Zulula is his first step in the reconquest!
-
- See section 5 for more information after you select the characters.
-
- 4.4 Information booth
-
- You can click on the information booth and ask question to the
- person there. He will be happy to answer your questions about
- Zulula!
-
- 4.5 Quit: The Guillotine
-
- Clicking on the guillotine will exit the game. You will be asked if you
- are sure before exiting.
-
- 5.The game

- - DEFENCE : Button 4 (Yellow)
-
- Most of the time, one attack will deliver more damages than the
- other, but will be slower.
-
- 5.2 The single fights
-
- The goal is simple, beat your opponent senseless and reduce him to
- a bloody pulp.
-
- 5.3 The tournaments
-
- Once all 16 participants are chosen (see 4.3.2), the tournament begins.
- All computer-only fights are resolved automatically, when a fight
- involving any player occurs, the screen switch to the battlefield, and the
- player(s) must resolve their battle in the coliseum.
-
- The fights occur as a single fight (see above).
-
- 5.4 The bashes
-
- Once the bash begins, the first four characters of the list enters the
- arena. In a bash, there are no friend, only foes. The four gladiators
- battle it out against each other untill one of them falls. When a
- gladiator dies, it's body is dragged out of the arena, and the next
- gladiator on the list enters, full of energy. This is where the luck gets
- into the game, if you get in sooner, you'll have to use a lot of strategy
- to stay alive all this time, while if you get in late, the task will be
- much easier. The winner of the bash is the only gladiator left standing
- after all 20 participants have entered.
-
- Because of the extreme danger related to this event, the bash is worth 50
- points.
-
- 5.5 The evil lords
-
- Fights with evil lords are resolved as single fights.
- WARNING: The evil lords have an extroardinary combination of strength and
- dexterity that no ordinary contestant has. Only carefull strategy can
- rid Zulula of these lords!
-
-
- Thank you for playing "Champions Of Zulula", we hope you'll enjoy it!
