  1. TBAV for Windows features

  4. 1) The unregistered evaluation version
  5.  
  6. The unregistered evaluation version of TBAV for Windows will now allow you
  7. to test TBAV for Windows for six weeks. After that period of time, the
  8. following items will be disabled:
  9.  
  10.  - Creating a scan log file
  11.  - Saving the TBAV for Windows configuration 
  12.  - The virus information
  13.  - The built-in scheduler
  14.  
  15. If you like TBAV for Windows and want to register your evaluation version,
  16. please call your local distributor.

  19. 2) About 32-bit file access 
  20.  
  21. As you might know, TBAV for Windows is able to trap file I/O operations.
  22. For example, when you copy an infected file while TBAV for Windows is active,
  23. TBAV for Windows will let you know that this file is infected.

  25. The DOS version of TBAV will be active in every DOS box under Windows. In order
  26. to activate the monitoring of file I/O operations, you should either load
  27. the (resident) TbScanX program before starting Windows, or in a DOS box.
  28. However, the monitoring of file I/O in a DOS box by means of the TbScanX 
  29. program will not work correctly if you have 32 bit file access enabled.

  31. The development team of ThunderBYTE Anti-Virus is currently working hard to
  32. find a solution for this problem. For now, we advise you to disable 32 bit
  33. file access. You can do this by means of the Control Panel application 
  34. (in the 386-enhanced section), or by starting MS-Windows with the following
  35. commandline:

  37.    WIN /d:c

  39. Note that this problem only occurs when using a DOS box together with
  40. 32 bits file access. TBAV for Windows will trap the file I/O activity of all
  41. Windows-based applications, or DOS applications with 16 bits file access.

  44. 3) The TbLock program
  45.  
  46. The TbLock program, which you will find in your TBAV for Windows directory,
  47. can be used to lock your PC when a virus has been active. The TbLock program
  48. is intended to be used in co-operation with TBAV for Networks. In this way,
  49. the network supervisor can lock workstations.

  51. The message displayed by TbLock can be changed by editing the TbLock.Lng file.
  52. Once TbLock has been started, it will only exit to DOS when you press the 
  53. TbLock hot-key, viz. <ALT><F10>.
