  3. PROBLEM:  ABORT: "Call to undefined dynalink."
  4. SOLUTION: Missing *.DLL file.  Try reinstalling Quicktime.
  5.           If that fails, try copying all the *.DLL files from the D:\QTSETUP
  6.           and D:\QTSETUP\BIN directories.
  7.           Try copying ALL the files from the D:\QTSETUP and D:\QTSETUP\BIN
  8.           directories.
  9.  
  10. PROBLEM:  ABORT: "Out of Subscript" when trying to continue.
  11. SOLUTION: You need to load a game first then continue.  Otherwise you will get
  12.           this and the game will kick you out. -=JLJ=-

  14. PROBLEM:  ABORT: GPF's and reboots
  15. SOLUTION: Turn off screen savers -NK
  16.           Try a different video driver.  Try using a 256 color driver. -NK
  17.           ATI Mach 64 MAY be a problem. Call ATI to get the latest QuickTime
  18.           2.0-compatible drivers.   -NK
  19.           Cirrus Logic 64,000 color drivers might not be compatible -NK & BB &
  20.           JC
  21.           Diamond Stealth 64 happened once so far - BB
  22.           Trident drivers have problems Too!- FS

  24. PROBLEM:  AUDIO: Choppy speech.
  25. SOLUTION: Try adding a "/U" after Smartdrv.exe.  This will disable caching for
  26.           the CD-ROM.
  27.           Also, make sure you're running in 640x480x256 for the best
  28.           performance.

  30. PROBLEM:  AUDIO: Popping noise using Ensoniq Soundscape
  31. SOLUTION: Advise the customer to download the latest drivers from Ensoniq.
  32.           This should cure the problem as the new drivers activate the general
  33.           midi and soundblaster drivers upon initialization. FS
  34.  
  35. PROBLEM:  CHEAT: JUMP TO any part of the game
  36. SOLUTION: From the Main Menu select GAME.  Hit ALT-F5.  Pick JUMP TO and it
  37.           will show thumbnails of various scenes in the game.  Click on one to
  38.           jump to it. -NK

  40. PROBLEM:  CHEAT: Skip a puzzle
  41. SOLUTION: Use ALT-SHIFT and the first letter of the puzzle's name.  For
  42.           example, to skip the Probe Logic Circuit Puzzle by pressing
  43.           ALT-SHIFT-P.  The exception is the Orbit puzzle- use ALT-SHIFT-I.
  44.           The code is different for each puzzle.  Norm has a complete listing
  45.           and will pass it out soon.  -NK

  47. PROBLEM:  ERROR: MMPlay Sound: Can't open sound device
  48. SOLUTION: This isn't caused by Daedalus but by a previous sound glitch.
  49.           Turning the computer OFF then ON (Reset will not work) should take
  50.           care of it. -NK
  51.           -Related to Microsoft Sound Mapper driver not being installed. - BB

  53. PROBLEM:  ERROR: This application requires QuickTime 2.0 or greater
  54. SOLUTION: Run SETUP.EXE from D:\QTSETUP (that is, from the CD drive) -NK

  56. PROBLEM:  LOCKUP: Gets to Main Menu screen and clicking on buttons does
  57.           nothing.
  58. SOLUTION: Somehow related to Microsoft Sound Mapper 1.0 is my guess.  Try
  59.           updating to 2.00?  (I think it comes with the SB16.  Please find out
  60.           which they have.) - BB
  61.           Confirmed MS mouse ver 9.01 Doesn't work.
  62.           But Logitech 6.24 mouse drivers work!-FS
  63.           I've tried MS 9.0 and 8.2, and both work fine. -NK
  64.           Take complete CSR.

  66. PROBLEM:  LOCKUP: Locks up
  67. SOLUTION: Check to see if the hard drive or CD-ROM are being read.  Using
  68.           Minimum Install can cause some long waits.  -NK

  70. PROBLEM:  LOCKUP: Screen goes black
  71. SOLUTION: Might be in a dark area.  Try clicking FLOODLIGHT. -NK
  72.  
  73. PROBLEM:  MISC: I can't delete it from my hard drive.
  74. SOLUTION: Some files are marked read-only and some are hidden.  Use File
  75.           Manager and keep answering YES to the warning. Of course, make sure
  76.           they're deleting the right thing... -NK
  77.  
  78. PROBLEM:  MISC: I saved a game, but when I restore it's not there.
  79. SOLUTION: Use the CONTINUE option.  In the MAIN MENU click on LOAD and choose
  80.           your save file.  Click on GAME then CONTINUE.  This puts you back
  81.           into your game.  After that, when they go back to the MAIN MENU
  82.           their JUMP TO option will work. -NK
  83.  
  84. PROBLEM:  MISC: Offensive language
  85. SOLUTION: It got the equivalent rating of a PG-13 movie.  It's part of the
  86.           realism. -NK
  87.  
  88. PROBLEM:  MISC: Zack asks if I want to go to Mizar, but clicking on YES or NO
  89.           doesn't work.
  90. SOLUTION: It takes a while to accept your response when using the mouse.  Wait
  91.           a few seconds and try again.  Either response will work.  -NK
  92.           Hitting Y or N on the keyboard works. -NK
  93.  
  94. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Any video problems
  95. SOLUTION: I suspect the ATI Mach 64.  It doesn't work that well with QuickTime
  96.           2.0. Maybe try contacting Apple or ATI about it to check for newer
  97.           drivers. -NK
  98.           Use "Small Fonts" on your video driver. -NK
  99.  
  100. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Can it run in full screen?
  101. SOLUTION: Hit SPACEBAR to switch to full screen and back -NK
  102.  
  103. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Half on top of screen, Half on bottom.
  104. SOLUTION: I got one call on this so far, with a Video 7 board.  I suggested
  105.           updating the drivers, or obtaining the MicroSoft SVGA drivers.  Any
  106.           better ideas are welcome! - BB

  108. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: It's jumpy in full screen mode
  109. SOLUTION: It's gonna be.  It was jumpy on a Pentium with an ATI Mach 64 card.
  110.           Don't run in full screen mode (hit SPACEBAR to switch modes). -NK

  112. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: It's jumpy.
  113. SOLUTION: Add a /U after SMARTDRV.EXE in AUTOEXEC.BAT.  This disables caching
  114.           for CD-ROM drives.

  116. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Pallette is messed up.
  117. SOLUTION: Basically there is a problem with the beginning movie when starting
  118.           the game in 256 colors. When entering the game in 256 the palette is
  119.           incorrect and looks corrupted. If you leave the game and go back in
  120.           the problem can not be repeated. If you initially run in thousands
  121.           of colors the problem is not there. -NK (from Chris Archer)

  123. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Runs too slowly
  124. SOLUTION: Use 256 or 32,000 color mode -NK
  125.           Use Maximum Install (as opposed to minimum install) -NK

  127. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: The screen doesn't take up the whole monitor
  128. SOLUTION: Use 640 x 480 mode video -NK
  129.  
  130. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Too grainy
  131. SOLUTION: Daedalus looks best in 64,000 colors.  Use 64k or 32k color mode.-NK

  133. PROBLEM:  What do you use IR and UV on your MULTILIGHT control for?
  134. SOLUTION: Nothing.  They're just for fun!  -NK
