  24. For the quickest results, make sure to write down your hardware system
  25. information including: installed sound cards, graphics cards, main
  26. memory and any additional hardware like an AVI-Accelerator. Software
  27. information is also helpful, in case we need to analyze driver problems.

  30.                     Minimum Configuration Requirements
  31.             ----------------------------------

  33. To use the 3Dfx version of ARCHIMEDEAN DYNASTY you must have a Pentium
  34. processor and 16 MB main memory space (we recommend 32 MB).
  35.  
  36. Although ARCHIMEDEAN DYNASTY 3Dfx functions well with Windows 95,
  37. we recommend that you run this program in DOS mode for even
  38. better performance.

  41.                               Running the Patch
  42.                       -----------------

  44. First make sure the file 'AD_3Dfx.exe' is located in the ARCHIMEDEAN DYNASTY 
  45. folder, usually found at C:\Bluebyte\Ad. Double-click on the file to start the 
  46. patch, then follow the instructions on screen. After it's finished click on the 
  47. 'OK.' button. To then start the enhanced 3Dfx version, double-click on the
  48. 'Ad3dfx.exe' file found within the Ad folder (make sure the game is in your 
  49. CD-ROM drive also).

  53.              For owners of 3D cards with a Voodoo Rush chip
  54.              ----------------------------------------------

  56. The standard driver is available for cards with a Voodoo chip (glide2x.ovl).
  57. For those with a Voodoo Rush chip (like the Hercules Stingray 128/3D or the
  58. Intergraph Intense 3D Voodoo), you'll have to replace the standard driver
  59. in your ARCHIMEDEAN DYNASTY directory with the (glide2x.ovl) in the VRUSH 
  60. directory. Simply copy it into the main Ad folder.

  63.                    Changes to the Real-Time Engine
  64.            -------------------------------

  66. The following functions of the Real-Time Engine function differently
  67. in the 3Dfx version :
  68.  
  69. Half-Line Mode            : not supported (always full line)
  70. Flatshading               : not supported (always gouraud)
  71. Perspective correction    : always activated
  72. Transparency              : always activated
  73. Cockpit shake             : not supported
  74. Cockpit off and small     : not supported (on or off)

  77.                       Environment Variables

  80. The Real-Time Engine can be controlled by using the following
  81. environment variables:

  83. LORES_TEXTURE=1
  84. If the variable (set LORES_TEXTURE=1) is used, the high resolution
  85. textures will be replaced by low resolution textures. The resolution
  86. will be reduced but will allow computers with only 16MB RAM to obtain
  87. better performance during complex scenes. The standard setup for
  88. computers with 16MB or more of RAM memory is to use high resolution
  89. textures, by those with less the standard setup is low resolution.

  92.                         New Keyboard Commands

  97. SHIFT F1     Bilinear Interpolation on/off    default: on
  98. SHIFT F2     Dithering Off/2x2/4x4            default: 4x4
  99. SHIFT F3     Gamma Correction (not supported on VOODOO RUSH)

  105. ARCHIMEDEAN DYNASTY has been set up to use the GLIDE Version 2.42
  106. to communicate with 3Dfx cards.

  112. As with all versions of ARCHIMEDEAN DYNASTY, the 3Dfx version contains
  113. the following Cheat Codes :

  115. LCTRL + RCTRL + 0   : mission successful
  116. LCTRL + RCTRL + 1   : unlimited ammunition for cannons
  117. LCTRL + RCTRL + 2   : unlimited number of torpedoes
  118. LCTRL + RCTRL + 3   : indestructible defensive shield
