- News, Changes, Fixes...
- -----------------------
-
- 1.10 - 02 Sep 1994
- ------------------
- - WCD did only work with 4OS/2. This is fixed.
-
- - /Scan without a drivelist to be scanned did not scan anything.
- This is fixed.
-
- - WCD did not work when the program itself was in a directory that did
- not match the 8:3 convention. This is fixed.
-
- - WCD now accepts the paramter "...", "...." and so on.
- Each additional dot stands for one additional directory to go up.
-
- - WCD now is checking if the parameter-directory is a direct path, e.g.
- a subdirectory of the current directory. If this is true, WCD changes
- directly into that directory.
-
-
- 1.20 - 07 Sep 1994
- ------------------
- - added support for LCD's databases.
- If the WCD.DB is not present, WCD is looking for LCD's LCD.IDX.
-
-
- 1.29ß - 10 Sep 1994
- -------------------
- - added the parameter MD, RD and REN and automatic database update.
- WCD md directory_name will create a directory and update the database
- WCD rd directory_name will delete a directory and update the database
- WCD ren oldname newname will rename directory a directory and update
- the database
-
- - added a DOS version (included as WCDDOS.EXE).
-
- - WCD is also 'ALIAS-aware'. Read WCD.DOC for more information.
-
-
- 1.30 - 16 Sep 1994
- ------------------
- - RD did not remove a directory from the database if it was a subdirectory
- of the root directory. This is fixed.
-
- - The OS/2 version produced an error when trying to scan a CDROM drive with
- no CDROM inside. This is fixed.
-
- - The DOS version did not Scan a CD-ROM drive at all in an OS/2 Warp Beta II
- DOS task. I don't know if it worked with a different OS/2 version. It worked
- under MS-DOS 6.2. Strange.... Anyhow, this is fixed.
-
- - Added environment switch "WCD".
- If you want WCD to list only directories which begin with your parameter
- and not all directories that contain the string somewhere in the name, use
- the environment switch "SET WCD=/B".
-
- - If you don't want WCD to scan CD-ROM drives by default, use "SET WCD=/C".
- Then WCD will not scan a CD-ROM drive with "WCD /Scan". You have to give
- the drive letter, e.g. "WCD /Scan cdfg" to make WCD scan a CD-ROM drive
- when this switch is set.
- Of course you can use both switches (SET WCD=/B/C).
- Important: Use uppercase letters!
-
- The /C switch is only working with the OS/2 version. Right now I don't
- know how to detect a CD-ROM drive under DOS. If somebody could supply me
- with some information on that, I'd be happy.
-
-
- 1.40 - 25 Sep 1994
- ------------------
- - removed support for LCD database. There's no need to do that any longer.
-
- - added parameter /Update <drivelist>. Pls see WCD.DOC for more information.
-
- - added /QScan and /QUpdate. Pls see WCD.DOC for more information.
-
- - added parameter /Sort to sort database.
-
- - added WCDDIR environment variable.
- Use "set WCDDIR=xxxxxx" if you want to place the WCD.DB database in another
- directory. E.g. "set WCDDIR=C:\OS2\SYSTEM". You must define the complete
- path with a drive, but do not add the filename!
-
- - removed the "Wolfgang's Change Directory..." message for most operations.
-
- - added speed search to the popup window.
-
- - WCDMAIN.EXE no longer need to be in a PATH directory if you're using aliases
- to launch WCD.
-
- - better recover of disk errors (e.g. CD-ROM drive not ready).
-
- - problem with spaces in directory names fixed.
-
-
- 1.50 - 19 Oct 1994
- ------------------
- - Added environment switch "/A".
- If WCD finds more than one directory that matches exact to your search
- string WCD will only list these exact matching directories by default.
- If you want WCD to list all directories that contain the search string
- in their name, use the environment switch "SET WCD=/A".
-
- - WCD (OS/2 version) crashed on large databases. This is fixed.
-
- - The window now fits the number of subdirectories if less than one
- full window.
-
- - Added environment switch "WCDCOL".
- If you don't like the default window colors you can change them with
- this environment variable. E.g. "SET WCDCOL=15,1". You must use this
- format, 2 numbers devided by a comma. The first number is the foreground
- color, the second is the background color. Foreground colors are accepted
- from 0 to 15, background colors from 0 to 7.
-
-
- 1.60 - 29 Oct 1994
- ------------------
- - Added WCD environment switch "/S[0..2]" ("SET WCD=/S[0..2]")
- This option will change WCD's behaviour when no directories are found
- that match the original searchstring:
- 0: (/S0) do not shrink searchstring, abort (default).
- 1: (/S1) shrink searchstring and try again.
- 2: (/S2) shrink searchstring and try again. Always open window, even
- if only one directory matches the shrunk searchstring.
- "/S" (without a number) is equal to "/S1".
-
- - Added WCD environment switch "/D".
- Search for a directory only on the current drive.
-
- - Added WCD environment switch "/E".
- Show popup window if exactly one directory name is found in the WCD
- database with the exact name.
-
- - All switches can also be used as a command line option now and will
- override the environment settings.
-
- - Re-written the manual. I hope it's much better and easier to read now.
-
- - And no, a simple email is NOT enough to register this program (do you
- really think I'd make it that easy for you?).
-
-
-
- Last try:
-
- Just to remind you: This program is NOT free!
- It's neither FreeWare nor belongs to the Public Domain!
-
- Till now I received 4 "registrations".
-
- It's very interesting that I still didn't receive a single registration
- from Germany or Europe. I should emigrate to the USA...
-
- Thanks for registering to:
-
- Michel Slivitzky (Canada)
- Don Hughes (USA)
- Ralph Alvy (USA) (BTW: the postage for a letter from the USA
- to Germany is $0.50 <g>)
- Niels Schaumann (USA) (are you sure? sounds really German <g>)
-
- Folks, I'll visit you next year and have some beer with you!
- Let's have a big party at the North Carolina Beach! (Oops, hope Thomas
- does not read this... <g>).
