YANV (Yet Another New Version...)
-----------v1.03---------------
Fixed problem with the Grayscale checkbox not being checked in the
Decompress Options dialog.
Reordered the menus slightly.
Updated the Help.
This is a completely new build using BC++ for OS/2. The resulting
executable is about 60k smaller and I believe that it is also
faster.
-----------v1.02---------------
Fixed a variety of little bugs that just didn't want to show up
consistently.
The progress monitor works correctly now. Really. 8^)
There is now a checked menu item that toggles whether or not Image
Archiver will get the width/height of each image file. Un-checking
this menu item dramatically speeds up filling the container when
dealing with large numbers of files.
Fixed a problem (I hope) with accessing network drives when drive
letters were skipped. i.e. if you had drives A, B, C, D, E, and G,
then it would be impossible to select drive G from the directory
dialog.
-----------v1.01---------------
Fixed the bug that caused many GIF picture dimensions to be displayed
incorrectly and often caused Image Archiver to go into an infinite
loop, locking up the WPS and needing a Ctrl-Esc.
Changed the progress monitoring dialogs to be a little clearer. There
is no 'Pass x/y' field anymore. The progress bar reflects the progress
of the entire compress/decompress process for that file.
Changed the priority of the decompress/compress threads slightly. It
should get along with other apps a little better now. 8^)
Made the menus a little more CUAish.
This version also reflects a new build using the latest CSet/2 beta.
So it should be a bit faster.
-----------v1.00---------------
Image Archiver v1.00 is finally here! No more BETA releases for this
version will be released. This is it for now.
For those of you who don't know, Image Archiver is a JPEG
conversion/viewing utility with an informative user interface. You'll
have to play with it to decide if you like it or not, but I would bet
that you will. There is online help available that describes all of
many the options available.
When you start the program you are presented with two containers
listing files in the selected directories. The directories are
displayed directly above the container and can be changed by pressing
the Dir button to the right of the READ-ONLY entry field. To see a
list of JPEG files in the leftmost container, simply change to the
directory where you JPEG files are stored and press the OK button and
the container will be filled with a detailed list of the JPEG pictures
in that directory. This may take some time if there are a lot of files
in the directory. You can do the same to fill the other container with
files of the other supported types. Currently Image Archiver v1.00
supports GIF, Targa, and PPM files. It can convert between any of
these formats and the JPEG image format.
JPEG images may be viewed by simply double-clicking mouse button 1 on
the desired image name. A window will open up once the file is decode
and the image can be viewed.
All other options are now contained in PopUp menus. By pressing mouse
button 2 in either of the containers you will be presented with a menu
showing what can be done to the selected files. There is one
exception, the View menu option opens up a file dialog allowing you to
select a JPEG file to view.
There are now no known bugs. All processes may be safely canceled. I
have noticed that some .GIF files report incorrect image dimensions.
When you start up the program you are presented with the About dialog
automatically. This is an unregistered user 'feature'. If you register
it will go away. Registered users will will also receive a version of
Image Archiver that supports adding/editing/deleting comments in JPEG
files. This feature will allow you to add any descriptive text that
you would like to any JPEG file. There are no other disabled features
in the unregistered version.
Enjoy and support the Shareware concept by registering this program if
you use it. All you have to do is send $15 (US dollars) to the address
below and you will receive the newest version of this software.
