  45. │     Age of Empires is an epic real-time strategy game spanning 10,000      │
  46. │    years, in which players are the guiding spirit in the evolution of      │
  47. │   small stone age tribes. Starting with minimal resources, players are     │
  48. │   challenged to build their tribes into great civilizations. Gamers can    │
  49. │     choose from one of several ways to win the game, including: world      │
  50. │  domination by conquering enemy civilizations, exploration of the known    │
  51. │   world and economic victory through the accumulation of wealth. Age of    │
  52. │   Empires was developed by Ensemble Studios and features the expertise     │
  53. │    of Bruce Shelley, co-designer of the hit strategy game Civilization.    │

  58. │    It's not only a different game each time you play. It's a different     │
  59. │         game, period. Beautiful graphics, twelve civilizations, a          │
  60. │    comprehensive technology tree, dozens of units, randomly generated      │
  61. │       maps, and a rich soundtrack, add up to a more complete gaming        │
  62. │                                experience.                                 │

  64. │   Age of Empires sets you within an historical context, not in a purely    │
  65. │    fictional world. But of course, if you would rather diverge from the    │
  66. │  beaten path, Age of Empires includes a built-in scenario editor so you    │
  67. │               can create your own conflicts and scenarios.                 │

  69. │    Age of Empires also brings you the expanse of the unknown. You have     │
  70. │   room to roam -- the maps are large, plenty of room for you, and up to    │
  71. │           eight other players, to play in a multiplayer forum.             │

  75. │      As the Guiding Spirit of your civilization, you can conquer or        │
  76. │  cooperate with existing tribes in a multiplayer environment -- via the    │

  81. │   Your decisions count: think fast, act bravely. You will see the          │
  82. │  real-time results of your resource management decisions. Consider your    │
  83. │      options and move forward; assign civilization members to hunt,        │
  84. │    explore, conquer, or build. Know your place; not all civilizations      │
  85. │   will excel at the same skills -- if you are from the desert, you         │
  86. │      might not be an expert on ships and marine warfare. As you move       │
  87. │   through time you will be able to apply new technology to advance the     │
  88. │    state of buildings, weapons, tools, and ships. Of course, detailed      │
  89. │     graphics and CD-quality sound will enhance and enrich your world       │
  90. │                           domination experience.                           │

  94. │   Age of Empires presents you with an opportunity to shape history. As     │
  95. │   you immerse yourself in Age of Empires, you sink into an historically    │
  96. │    accurate world of eat or be eaten. You'll get to see how good your      │
  97. │   survival, resource management and commanding skills really are as you    │
  98. │       take part in the rise of civilizations in the Age of Empires.        │

  100. │    You begin by choosing from among 12 real ancient civilizations, and     │
  101. │    your choice of civilization is tied to the type of technology which     │
  102. │   will become available to you. The architecture you build, the armies     │
  103. │    you amass, will all reflect your culture. As in world history, the      │
  104. │     differences between the tribes and their technologies become more      │
  105. │   apparent at key moments in history (such as the dawning of the Bronze    │
  106. │                                   Age).                                    │
  107. │                                                                            │
  108. │   Age of Empires also includes a 40,000 word encyclopedia that provides    │
  109. │    historical notes on Age of Empires. The encyclopedia discusses the      │
  110. │  different cultures available for play, the game technologies, the rise    │
  111. │  of civilization, and the rise of ancient warfare. Age of Empires isn't    │
  112. │   exactly like the real world though. In the real world leaders didn't     │
  113. │   have the option to limit or expand how they would rise to power. And     │
  114. │  they probably didn't have as much fun as you will with Age of Empires.    │
  115. │                                                                            │
  116. │         Thats what it's all about after all isn't it?  Having fun!         │
  117. │                                                                            │
  118. │       This is one of the most anticipated games since the original         │
  119. │      Civilization from Sid himself.  AOE was voted THE #1 Real time        │
  120. │    Strategy at E3 by Gameslice, Gamepen, PC Gamer, CGW, Computer Games     │
  121. │      Strategy Plus....you get the picture.  So put away that girlie        │
  122. │   Commander and saddle up an elephant and send a spear soaring through     │
  123. │                  the brass helmet of a peasant..hoo rah!                   │

  136. │           C:\games\AOE), then unRAR the game using this command:           │

  140. │     NOTE: This game does contain long filenames, so make SURE that you     │
