REVISION HISTORY
09/17/92
The main RAL scenery was completely re-enhanced using SEE04. All objects
including most buildings (some were filtered out to save space) and the
San Bernadino mountains now darken at night. Full night effects have also
been added to the mountains in Ken's Big Bear scenery making a night approach
into Big Bear airport MUCH more interesting (g)! Runway lighting has been
added to all runways possessing it in the real world. For Corona and
Redlands airports this amounts to only a single line of lights down the
the runway center. Rwy 16/32 at Riverside and Rwy 17/35 at Rialto also have
runway center lighting only. Taxiway lighting was added to ONT only (there
being insufficient file space to add taxiway lighting to the other airports).
Use the map view to negotiate your way around these airports at night.
Finally, the green polygons used to cover runways in the default scenery are
no longer visible at night as they were previously. Several grey polygons
used to cover roads and were visible at day can no longer be seen as well.
Only in map view can any of these polygons still be seen. Unfortunately,
SEE can do nothing about this so far as I know.
In addition to filtering out a number of buildings these enhancements were
made possible by deleting some 40 buildings and other objects in order to
free up file space. Additional file space was freed up by NOT having SEE
add night effects to the black polygons in the scenery (used to represent
taxiways and tarmacs at CNO, ONT, and RAL). Finally, SEE04 enhancements
require less file space than previous versions did and this had the effect
of freeing up still more file space. The savings in file space allows this
version of my RAL scenery is only slightly larger than the previous one in
spite of all the improvements made to it!
Finally, the following was added or corrected:
1. The MALSF for Rwy 9 at RAL which had apparently been
dropped from the pervious version was restored.
2. A piece of the tarmac and a taxiway to Rwy 32 at RAL was
found to be missing (or was accidentially left off) was
restored (added?).
3. Rwy 6/24 at Rialto Airport was widen to 100 ft. to reflect
a simlar change to the real thing since my last revision.
07/16/91
Brown polygons have been added to Ken's scenery to represent the communites
of Big Bear City and Lake Arrowhead. Brown polygons were also used to re-
present the tiny island the Big Bear Observatory stands on and the cause-
way leading to the Observatory. SEE03 was used to add dusk/night effects to
these polygons and turn the roads to lights at night (partly to help orient
orient pilots making a night approach to Big Bear Airport). ASDMOVE was used
to make a copy of Redlands and Redlands Muni which was enhanced with SEE03
and then merged with Ken's San Bernardino Mountians scenery (as opposed to
being pasted onto Ken's scenery with ASDMOVE). This last changed caused the
alitiude problem to reappear and required three runways hidden along the
southern base of the mountain nearest Redlands to correct).
06/28/91
Most of the San Bernardino mountains scenery provided by Ken Fugate has
been deleted and is now provided in a new file provided by Ken. (This was
done to resolve an altitude problem caused when I deleted several "buried
runways", in order to conserve file size, in Ken's original file.) Enough
was retained in the Riverside Scenery to provide continuity between the two
files. One small mountain was deleted from Ken's new file for the sake of
continuity as well. Boundary coordinates for the Riverside file has been
changed to 15279.7531N, 6119.0598E with a radius of 25 miles.
The boundary coordinates for Ken's new scenery were also changed to
15411.6938N,6343.6187E in an attempt to find the "best fit" between the
two files.
Ken's new file contains a number of new features and has been further
enhanced with Leamming Wheeler's SEE03 program. Consult Ken's documentation
for complete details.
When the deletion of most of Ken's scenery from my Riverside file SEE03 was
able to add dusk/night colors to all buildings in the file.
06/19/91
Original file, CAARALSM.ORG, now included for those who might wish to
make their own alternations and/or improvements. CAARAL.DAT contains
the SEE command list used by SEE03 to make the enhancements found in
CAARALSM.SC1.
05/19/91
Boundary coordinates changed to 15314.2412N, 6203.3214E to eliminate
conflict with Santa Ana/Orange County scenery.
05/04/91
Several errors, found by Charlie Dunsensbury, were corrected.
SEE enhancements include patched runways, runways and polygons that
darken at night, roads that darken at dusk and turn to lights at
night. ATC/ATIS added to the tower-controlled airports (Riverside,
Chino, Brackett Field, and Ontario International). Hazard lights
were added to buildings over 100 ft. high. Rivers now darken at
night. File size now at 53k.
04/04/91 (non-release)
The local San Bernardino mountains along with several lakes (Lake
Silverwood, Arrowhead Lake, Big Bear Lake, and Lake Baldwin <dry>),
contributed by Ken Fugate 70012,476 were added. FLABOB airport along
with several unecessary buildings, roads, and other features were
deleted to reduce the file size and allow for enhancement with
Leamming Wheeler's SEE utility. The dynamic scenery was completely
redone. File size increased to 42k.
03/09/91 (non-release)
Five airports (Redlands Muni, Chino Airport, Brackett Field, Ontario
International (parts of which were contributed by Charlie Dusensbury
71241,2517), and Rialto/Art Scholl Field) were added. All major
freeways now represented. Pettis NDB 397 (east of ONT) added. Most
of the local foothills in the original release were deleted to free
up space. File size increased to 35K.
12/17/90
Corrected RAL runways which were slightly off.
Re-positioned ILS Localizer and added Outer & Middle Marker
Beacons.
Added Paradise VORTAC (PDZ) freq. 112.20
Added Swan Lake NDB (freq. 257) Exists on the default scenery but
not SD-3. Now it will work with the latter as well.
Blanked out original RAL and L66 (Corona Muni) runways by creating
additional scenery files containing green polygons large enough to
cover the runways and then merging my original RAL scenery on top of
them. The resulting scenery file can now be used with the FS default
scenery.
