  3. Jookerie is a Scottish word meaning trickery, and that's your objective in
  4. this new game for the Pilot.  No more boredom on those lunchbreaks with 
  5. friends or on those long car rides!
  6.  
  7. Based on the age old classic of The Dictionary Game, the Pilot
  8. chooses an obscure word from its word list, and players enter definitions 
  9. that they believe the other players would think is the true definition.
  10. The winner is the person who can collect the most points be picking the
  11. correct definitions and by getting others to choose his or her own
  12. definition.  BEWARE: this game can be be hazardous to your obscure word
  13. illiteracy rate!

  17. NOTE: The Registered version of the game is due to be released in the
  18.     first week of July 1997.  You may register prior to this, and
  19.     will be sent the registered version on the day of the
  20.     actual release.

  22. FEATURES:

  24.  - 1000 word database (100 in the unregistered version)
  25.  - Ability to import other word lists from third parties 
  26.     or create your own and distribute them! (registered version only)
  27.  - 1 to 5 players with up to 4 extra computer generated fake definition
  28.  - It will even be possible to create a database of significant dates
  29.     instead of words, and have folks try to guess what
  30.     happened on that particular date!

  32. *****************************  HOW TO PLAY   *******************************
  33.  
  34. At the initial screen choose how many players are going to play.
  35. Then select how many fake computer generated definitions you would like.
  36. NOTE: The number of players + the number of fake computer definitions
  37. must total to 5 or less.
  38. Finally select the number of rounds (words) you would like.
  39. Once the above is entered each player enters their name.
  40.  
  41. Following this you will be presented with a word, which you may choose
  42. to use of can opt for a different word (if for some reason the word 
  43. the Pilot chooses is unacceptable - perhaps a duplicate word, or else
  44. a word that too many folks already know the definition of).
  45.  
  46. Once the word is selected, each user will be asked to graffiti in their
  47. fake definition.  Try to make a definition to the word given that the
  48. other players would believe is the true definition.  If you do happen
  49. to know the true definition, unlike the paper based version of this
  50. game, you should still try to create a fake definition to fool
  51. the others.

  53. After all the definitions are entered, each player is asked to select
  54. the one they believe is the true definition.  You may click on the 
  55. definition lines themselves to bring up a full view of the longer
  56. definitions.  At the top of the screen is a status line that indicates
  57. which player's turn it is to choose a definition.

  59. Following the picking stage, the correct definition is shown and then 
  60. the current scores are displayed.

  62. STARTING A NEW GAME:
  63.  
  64. If you wish to start a new game while one is in progress, select
  65. the menu item under 'Options' for 'Start a New Game'.  This can only
  66. be selected during the definition picking stage of the current game.

  68. SCORING:

  70. You receive 2 points if you select the true definition of the word.
  71. You also receive 1 point for each player that selected your fake
  72. definition.  The scoreboard shows the scores for the last round, as
  73. well as the total scores.
  74.  
  75. After the final round, you will see the final scores for the game, and
  76. you can crown the champion as the ultimate Jookerie player!

  78. USING OTHER DATABASES:
  79.  
  80. In the registered version, you are allowed to load in other databases,
  81. and even create your own word/dictionary lists.  You can select new databases
  82. at the beginning of the New Game screen.
