- MEDICAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE 100LX
- ---------------------------------------
- LAST UPDATE: 4-APR-94
- This archive contains several files
- designed to make life easier for
- Physicians who want to use the HP 100LX
- in their practice.
-
- 1) LABTEMPL.WK1 is a lotus 123 template
- designed for maintaining and tracking
- trends in patient's lab results. It was
- created by David E Goodman to help him
- keep track of his patients. It allows
- macro-controlled data entry and graphic
- representation of entered values over
- the last seven days. When entering data
- be sure to use the cursor keys to move
- from entry to entry. Press <enter> when
- finished and ready to return to the menu
- bar. One copy of the spreadsheet should
- be maintained for each patient. The
- menus, graphics, and most of the macros
- are my contribution. There are spaces
- for entry of over 50 different lab
- measurements. Be sure to change the name
- of the spreadsheet to something else
- before saving it so you don't overwrite
- your empty template. SAMPLE.WK1 is a
- copy of this file already loaded with
- data so you can see how the data looks
- once plotted on the graphs.
-
- 2) LABUSA.GDB
- This is a 100LX Database file to be used
- with the built-in phonebook application.
- The File has about 100 lab studies
- followed by their normal ranges. If you
- highlight one lab and press enter, you
- will get some possible causes of
- increased or decreased values of that
- lab study.
-
- The information was lifted out of the
- Clinicians Pocket Reference, 6th Edition.
- These values may have to be modified to suit
- your local population or your Lab's
- particular equipment.
-
- 3) H&PFORM2.TXT
- This is a simple document template for
- doing a history and physical workup. I
- would create one for each new patient.
- The document contains negative findings
- for most areas already typed in.
-
- It is helpful as a script to remind you
- to check things as you proceed through
- the history taking process. After doing
- the physical, I would go into a corner
- somewhere and edit the pre-entered
- negative findings to reflect my actual
- findings.
-
- When done, I could print this document
- to hard copy for inclusion in the chart.
- It saved much extra typing and ensured I
- always did a thorough job.
-
- 4) MED.EQN
- This is a calculator equation file
- containing about 66 medical formulas
- used in a clinical setting. Dates in the
- Due Date Equation must be in the format
- dd.mmyyyy (see HP100LX users manual page
- 28-2 for more details about date formats
- in the solver ) It was originally
- written by David E. Goodman and has
- since been enhanced by Dr. Steve
- Zweibel and Alan M. Galitz, MD.
- The various versions were merged into a
- single file and differences preserved;
- because there are often more ways than
- one to derive estimates of certain
- values depending on the data available.
-
- 5) DRIPS.WK1
- This is a worksheet to help select the
- drip rate to give the desired dose of a
- variety of cardioactive IV drugs.
- You may change the Amount and Volume
- numbers to match the dilutions used by
- your local pharmacy. Press <F5> and
- enter "B1" to pull the top title
- section down so you can edit the numbers
- for volume and Amount. Do not alter the
- Weight fields directly.
-
- 6) ACLS.GDB This file contains a group
- of Drug names and doses currently used
- during Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Every effort has been made to ensure
- that the doses in this list correlate
- with doses stated in the literature.
- Please use the informaton with caution.
-
- 7) MI-MGT.TXT This is a small text file
- listing currently practiced guidelines
- for management of acute myocardial
- infarction.
-
- 8) IV-ATB.GDB a Database file with some
- popular antibiotics, their doses, and
- spectra of activity.
-
- 9) PRESSORS.WK1 a spreadsheet that
- illustrates the hemodynamic effects
- of some popular pressor drugs.
-
- 10) ANESDRUG.GDB a database file with
- some popular drugs used in anesthesiology
- along with dosages and additional
- information.
