  17.     I.  Introduction
  18.     =====================================================================

  20.     This disk contains Part 1 of Hewlett-Packard's Intellifont-for-Windows
  21.     3.1 (IFW 3.1), a combination screen/printer driver for printing in
  22.     Windows 3.1 to an HP LaserJet III family printer.
  23.  
  24.     Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 provides:
  25.  
  26.      - High quality screen fonts
  27.      - On-the-fly screen font generation in the styles and sizes you want
  28.        from within your Windows application.
  29.      - Matching screen fonts for LJIII family printer internal scalable
  30.        fonts as well as HP scalable typeface collections on cartridge or
  31.        disk.

  33.     Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 System Requirements
  34.  
  35.      - HP LaserJet III family printer (III, IIID, IIIP, or IIISi)
  36.      - IBM PC/AT or compatible (286 or above) running DOS 3.1 or higher
  37.      - High density floppy drive (5.25" or 3.5")
  38.      - Minimum 1 MB of extended memory, 2 MB is recommended
  39.      - Minimum 2 MB hard disk space
  40.      - Windows 3.1 -- Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 is not supported in
  41.        Windows 3.0.  For information on Intellifont-for-Windows 3.0,
  42.        download IFW30.ANN from the LaserJet library (4).

  44.     The file README.IFW included with the file IFW1.ZIP contains additional
  45.     information about Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1.

  47.     Please read both sections below before proceeding with installation.

  51.     II. Contents
  52.     =====================================================================
  53.  
  54.     Only a portion of the files required to install Intellifont-for-Windows
  55.     3.1 are included here.  Once all of the files have been unarchived,
  56.     they will occupy two high density diskettes.  The entire Intellifont-
  57.     for-Windows 3.1 program is contained in the following three files:
  58.  
  59.              IFW1.ZIP   - Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 Part 1
  60.              IFW2.ZIP   - Intellifont-for-Windows 3.0/3.1 Part 2
  61.              IFW3.ZIP   - Intellifont-for-Windows 3.0/3.1 Part 3

  63.     Before you proceed with installation, you must download all three of
  64.     the above files and follow the disk preparation instructions below.

  66.     The Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 files must be copied to two high
  67.     density disks by running the batch file IFWDISK.BAT before the program
  68.     can be installed.  The program is then installed from the disks created
  69.     by IFWDISK.BAT.

  73.     III. Disk Preparation
  74.     =====================================================================

  76.     The batch file IFWDISK.BAT will create two Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1
  77.     program disks.  Once these disks have been created, you will install
  78.     the progam from these disks.
  79.  
  80.     The Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 installation program expects to find
  81.     certain files in a specific directory format on the appropriate
  82.     diskette. The batch file IFWDISK.BAT will create the proper
  83.     subdirectorys on the diskettes and copy the appropriate files for you
  84.     automatically.
  85.  
  86.     Before you begin you will need two blank high density, 5.25" or 3.5"
  87.     formatted diskettes.
  88.  
  89.     To create the Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 diskettes:
  90.  
  91.     1) Make a temporary subdirectory on your hard disk (ie C:\TEMP) and
  92.        change to that directory.
  93.  
  94.     2) Copy the following archived files to the temporary subdirectory:
  95.                           IFW1.ZIP
  96.                           IFW2.ZIP
  97.                           IFW3.ZIP
  98.  
  99.     3) Unarchive all of the files.
  100.  
  101.     4) Type IFWDISK and press <Enter>.  Follow the instructions on the
  102.        screen.  You will be prompted to put the blank, formatted disks in
  103.        Drive A:. The Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 files will automatically
  104.        be copied to these disks.
  105.  
  106.     5) Once the Intellifont-for-Windows 3.1 disks have been prepared,
  107.        follow the installation instructions in the README.IFW file included
  108.        with the file IFW1.ZIP.
  109.
