  7. This document outlines the issues related to WinFax 
  8. macros. WinFax macros add fax commands to other programs so 
  9. you can convert documents to faxes easier and faster. The
  10. macros included with WinFax are designed for Corel
  11. WordPerfect, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Lotus 
  12. Ami Pro.

  14. To install a macro:
  15. 1. Click the Windows Start button, point to Programs, 
  16.    then to WinFax PRO, and then click WinFax Macro Installer.
  17. 2. Click the macros you want to install and then click 
  18.    Install.

  20. NOTE TO EXCEL USERS - During the WinFax installation, Excel 
  21. macro files are installed if the Setup program detects that 
  22. Excel is installed on your computer. To use the Excel macro, 
  23. see the Excel section in this document.

  39. The WordPerfect macro is a new feature in WinFax 8.0.

  52. Microsoft Excel 5.0, Excel 7.0, and Excel 97 Macros
  53. ===================================================
  54. Features now supported:
  55. - this macro is now available as an Excel Add-In
  56. - DDE support
  57. - support for faxing Excel workbooks
  58. - WinFax Controller is now available

  60. Known problems:
  61. - wfxTime field must be formatted as Text (do not format 
  62.   the cell as General)
  63. - wfxDate field must be formatted as Text (do not format 
  64.   the cell as General)
  65.  
  66. SETTING UP THE MACRO - During installation, the WinFax Setup 
  67. program identifies the most current version of Excel 
  68. installed on your computer and copies the appropriate macro 
  69. file (WFX7_XL5.XLA, WFX7_XL7.XLA, or WFXXL97.XLA) to the 
  70. LIBRARY subfolder in the corresponding Excel folder.

  72. USING THE MACRO - If you want to use the Excel macro, click 
  73. Add-Ins on the Excel Tools menu and select the WinFax option.
  74. The WinFax command appears on the File menu in Excel. To 
  75. send a fax, click the WinFax command. The macro records the 
  76. current print driver, switches to the WinFax printer driver,
  77. and then searches the current document for the following 
  78. field values:
  79.  
  80. wfxInfo        necessary placeholder for information (required)
  81. wfxFaxNum    fax number
  82. wfxTime            scheduled send time
  83. wfxDate            scheduled send date
  84. wfxRecipient    recipient's name
  85. wfxSubject    user-defined information
  86. wfxKeyword    user-defined information
  87. wfxBillcode    user-defined information
  88. wfxMode            delivery method
  89.  
  90. If the macro locates the wfxFaxNum field, it continues 
  91. searching for the remaining field values and stores this 
  92. information using the wfxInfo field. The macro then displays
  93. the Print dialog. Select the appropriate print options and
  94. click OK to print the document to WinFax. Do not change the 
  95. printer driver. After printing, the original printer driver 
  96. is restored.

  98. If the macro cannot find the wfxFaxNum field, the Excel
  99. Print dialog appears.  Select the appropriate print options
  100. and click OK to print the document to WinFax. Address the
  101. fax, select any other appropriate options, and then click 
  102. Send to fax the document. Do not change the printer driver. 
  103. After faxing, the original printer driver is restored.

  107. Microsoft Word 7.0 and Word 97 Macros
  108. =====================================

  110. Features now supported:

  112. - WinFax binary file transfer (BFT)
  113. - you can now select WinFax cover pages and preview them
  114. - you can now select WinFax attachments
  115. - you can now schedule faxes
  116. - WinFax Controller is now available
  117. - Internet fax is now available
  118. - styles in Word documents can be applied in any order
  119. - Word documents without styles applied no longer generate 
  120.   an error message
  121. - styles can be applied to Word tables
  122. - information contained in styles is available in the Send 
  123.   dialog when you select the Show WinFax Send Dialog option
  124. - WinFax Mail Merge command on the Tools menu

  126. Known issues:
  127. -------------
  128. - tape backup units appear as a blank entry in the Drive list
  129. - when you run the WinFax Setup program, it renames 
  130.   previous versions of the Word 7.0 and Word 97 macros
  131. - in Word 7.0 and Word 97, the dialing sequence for Internet
  132.   fax is:

  139. Faxing Mail Merge Notes:
  140. ------------------------
  141. You can fax a mail merge document created in Microsoft 
  142. Word 97 to multiple recipients. To fax a mail merge:
  143. 1. Create the mail merge document.
  144. 2. Set up the merge document in Word.
  145. 3. Print the merged document to WinFax.
  146.  
  147. Notes:    
  148. a Familiarize yourself with how Word mail merges work before
  149.   attempting a fax/mail merge with WinFax. For more 
  150.   information, see your Word documentation.
  151.  
  152. b Any dial prefix (for example, "9" for an outside line) must
  153.   be set up in WinFax, not added to the mail merge database.
  154.  
  155. c Do not use fillable cover pages in WinFax. Ensure that the
  156.   Preview/Annotate option is disabled in WinFax. (On the 
  157.   Setup menu, click Send, then disable Allow Me To Preview
  158.   And Annotate Faxes).

  160. d You can create a mail merge phone number database when you
  161.   create the mail merge, or you can link the mail merge to 
  162.   an existing database.  Word 7.0 can use the following types
  163.   of database files: ASCII, Excel spreadsheets, Schedule 
  164.   Plus contact lists, and Exchange address books.
  165.  
  166. e The phone information in the database must include the 
  167.   phone number, including the long distance or international
  168.   access code (usually "1" or "011", respectively), and the 
  169.   area code, where required.

  171. f When applying fax merge styles to tables, you can use the 
  172.   following fax merge WFX styles:
