  42. 1.0 What is Entertainment Online?
  43. =======================================================================

  45. Entertainment Online (E-On) is an Internet based entertainment channel.
  46. It includes the best in low latency, online multi-player games, a range
  47. of top ten download games and electronic centres for media and
  48. commerce.
  49.  
  50. The main areas are:

  54. The Neon Magazine
  55. Chat Forum
  56.  
  57. All these areas are available via our web site at http://www.e-on.com

  59. We are not an Internet Service Provider.

  62. 2.0 Minimum Requirements
  63. =======================================================================

  65.     IBM Compatible PC  486 DX2 66 with 8 Mb RAM

  67.         14.4  bps modem

  69.         An account with an Internet Service Provider (I.S.P.)
  70.         such as CompuServe or AOL
  71.  
  72.         Either Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or 
  73.         Netscape Navigator 2.0 (or higher)

  76. 3.0 Registration and Subscription
  77. =======================================================================

  79. There are two classes of user at E-On.  Either you are a 
  80. registered user or a subscribed user.
  81.  
  82. 3.1  Registered Access
  83. --------------------------------

  85. As a registered user, you will have access to the digital 
  86. shop and the magazine areas of the site only.  None of the 
  87. games will be available to you.  Gaining registered access 
  88. is free.
  89.  
  90. You will need to choose a Login name and password when you 
  91. register. These must be in lower case with no spaces.
  92.  
  93. You have to register before you can subscribe and the 
  94. Login name and password that you choose when you register 
  95. is carried over to your subscription.
  96.  
  97. The registered Login name and password will allow you 
  98. access to the site. You will not be able to download games
  99. or open the Games Room to play the multi-player games 
  100. until you are a subscriber.

  102. 3.2  How to register with E-On:

  105. Start your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape
  106. Navigator) and type http://www.e-on.com into the address 
  107. box.

  109. Follow the links below:

  111. Click on the [welcome to eon] text
  112. Click on the [log in] button
  113. Click on the [register] button
  114. Enter your personal details in the form provided
  115. Take care to remember your Login name and password
  116. Click the [process registration now] button at the 
  117. bottom of the page.

  120. 3.3   Subscribed Access
  121. ----------------------------------

  123. To subscribe, you will need to pay a monthly subscription
  124. charge.  E-On frequently has a range of special offers 
  125. available and so the charges and access rights may change.  
  126. Please check the site regularly for offers.

  128. Full membership allows access to all areas of the site including
  129. both the multi-player and download games, and the live chat forums.
  130. As a subscriber, you will also be able to take advantage of more of
  131. E-On's special offers and will be given a preferential rate in the 
  132. digital shop.

  135. The only charge that E-On makes is the monthly subscription.
  136. There are no other costs other than those you would normally incur
  137. when connecting to the Internet.

  139. 3.4  How to subscribe to E-On:

  142. Start your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator)
  143. and type http://www.e-on.com into the address box.  Follow the links
  144. below:

  146. Click on the welcome text
  147. Click the [Log in] button
  148. Enter your user name and password
  149. Click the [Subscribe] button
  150. Press the [click here to subscribe] text link
  151. Fill in your details on the subscription form
  152. Click the [accept terms and process] at the bottom of the page 
  153.  
  154. If you are using a magazine cover mount code, there is a separate
  155. subscription page.  Follow the magazine/CD  special offer links to
  156. take advantage of the offer.

  159. 4.0  The E-On Software
  160. ======================================================================
  161.  
  162. This CD contains an interactive demo and the client software that E-On
  163. subscribers need to access the games and chat services.  The client 
  164. software consists of two parts: the Game Manager and the Games Room.
  165. You will need to install this software in order to access any of the
  166. games, educational software and chat on the E-On site.
  167.

  169. 4.1  The Game Manager
  170. ----------------------------------
  171.  
  172. E-On provides it's subscribers with a range of  top-ten games for 
  173. download.  These games cannot be transferred to any other computer.
  174. Once they have been downloaded to a subscribers machine, they will only
  175. run on that machine. They need to be refreshed every 30 days.
  176. This does not mean that the user has to download each game over again,
  177. they must merely run the Game Manager so it can check that their
  178. account is still open.

  181. When you run the Game Manager for the first time, you must be connected
  182. to the Internet and have your subscribed Login name and password ready.
  183. After you have entered your details, Game Manager will verify your
  184. account with the E-On server and allow you access to the download games
  185. that are available on the E-On web site at the time.

  189. To run the game manager, you MUST be a subscriber and have an open 
  190. connection to the Internet.

  193. 4.2  The Games Room
  194. --------------------------------

  196. The multi-player games and chat areas can be launched from the 
  197. Games Room.  By clicking the [play now] icons on the multi-player games
  198. web pages at E-On, you will start the Games Room.  From the Games Room,
  199. you will be able to access all of the multi-player games and chat to
  200. all the other subscribers who are there.

  202. You cannot play any of the multi-player games until you have logged in
  203. to the Games Room.  You have to enter your subscribed Login name and
  204. password to do so.

  208. 5.0  What is this CD for?
  209. =======================================================================

  211. This CD includes a Quick Time TM movie which shows what E-On has to 
  212. offer in an interactive demo.  It also includes all the software that
  213. you will need to use the service to its full.  You must be a subscriber
  214. before the software is any use to you.

  216. 5.1  Installing the E-On interactive demo
  217. ------------------------------------------------------
  218.  
  219. To properly view the interactive demo, you must install an application
  220. called Apple Quick-time TM.  Quick-time is a movie viewer that allows
  221. you to watch animated sequences on a PC.  To install all the files that
  222. you need to view the interactive demo, please follow the instructions
  223. below.

  226. 5.11 For Windows 95 users
  227. --------------------------------------
  228.     From the Start menu, choose [Run] and type:
  229.  
  230.     D:\E-on\SETUP.EXE  (Where D: is the letter of your CD-ROM drive)
  231.  
  232. 5.12 For Windows 3.1x users
  233. --------------------------------------
  234.     From Program Manager, choose [File], [Run] and then type:
  235.  
  236.     D:\E-on\SETUP.EXE  (Where D: is the letter of your CD-ROM drive)

  238. When the install has finished, an E-On program group will have been
  239. created.  To start the E-On demo, click on the E-On CD-ROM icon.
  240.  
  241. If this CD has been included on a magazine compilation disc, you will 
  242. need to follow the instructions within the magazine as the route 
  243. to this setup program may vary.

  246. The Interactive Demo
  247. ------------------------------
  248.  
  249. Mr. E-On is the main character in the interactive demo.  He'll tell you
  250. all about the site and the services on offer, you are also given the
  251. chance to install the E-On software from the here. To use the demo
  252. simply move your mouse pointer around the screen and click on the
  253. areas that are of interest to you.  The E-On software is 
  254. available in one of the main areas on the demo. 
  255. (Right hand side of the main screen)  Explore and see what great 
  256. services E-On has to offer.

  258. The Games Manager and Games Room are put together into a 
  259. package called Full Install.  This may be accessed and installed from 
  260. the Interactive demo.
