StarSchedule Server is installed and executed as a stand alone application. It enables different users to access one or more common schedules and to coordinate them.
Once the installation has finished the server will be started automatically. For administration please register the server up by opening the pop up menu of the entry Data sources in your StarSchedule folder located in the StarOffice Explorer. Now server administration can be done directly through the server's entry pop up menu.

Installation requirements

Depending on the operating system the installation will need 18 up to 40 MB of free disk space in your installation directory. In addition another 2 MB will be needed for every user who runs his schedule on this server.
IMPORTANT: If you install the server on an multiuser operating system as Unix or Windows NT you need to be logged in as an system administrator.

Installation

Start the installation from the installation directory of the StarSchedule-Server.
WARNING: Never install StarSchedule-Server into an existing StarOffice directory! This will leave both applications in an inoperable state!
During the installation routine you will be asked to fill in the HTTP port and the administration port. In most cases, i.e. if there are no other StarSchedule-Servers running on that system, the default values should be kept. If there is more than one server running every server has to have its own unique port number. Please leave the checkbox Start administration service marked.
In Windows you will find a new program group StarSchedule Server 5.1 in your Start menu. Here you will find the entries Setup and Service Manager. The service manager enables you to supervise running services and to have them started, halted and interrupted.
IMPORTANT: If you have set up a new StarSchedule-Server or deleted one you have to restart the server through the Service Manager.
Basic functions can be also administered through a web browser that is Java- and JavaScript capable. If you are using Netscape Communicator you will need version 4.0.7 or higher.
Type into the URL field of your browser the complete name of your server (i.e. http://localhost). If you have chosen a different port than 80 please add a colon followed by the port number at the end of the server name.
