  3. This disc is quite unique in that it is designed to work on both Apple Macintosh and IBM 
  4. Personal Computer compatible machines.  With that said, there are unfortunate instances 
  5. where certain applications designed for both platforms only work under one operating 
  6. system.  Please keep in mind that we are aware of these so-called "bugs",  and that future 
  7. discs will be void of such frustration.  However, we believe that these discs will add to the 
  8. quality of Next Generation, and serve as a catalyst for future, more impressive projects.
  9. You will have many questions that a simple ReadMe(.txt) file cannot answer.  We invite 
  10. you to e-mail us at the address below, and be sure that we will respond in a reasonable 
  11. amount of time.  We want your reaction to this disc.  Your recommendations and 
  12. comments will be seen by our disc editors.  Feel free to write us at: disceditors@next-

  15. Installation for Macintosh Computers*:
  16. 1.  Insert Next Generation Disc in your CD-ROM drive.
  17. 2.  Double-click on the NEXT icon.
  18. 3.  Choose your computer platform.  "Start68k" for 680xx machines, "StartPPC" for 
  19. Power PC machines.
  20. 4.  The full interface should launch at this point in time.

  22. Installation for IBM compatible personal computers*:
  23. 1.  Insert the Next Generation Disc in your CD-ROM drive.
  24. 2.  In Windows95 open "My Computer".  In Windows3.1 open "Main" and then "File 
  25. Manager".
  26. 3.  Double click on your CD-ROM drive; usually noted as Drive D:
  27. 4.  Double click on "Start95" for Windows95 users.  Double-click on "Start31" for 
  28. Windows3.1 users.
  29. 5.  The full interface should launch at this point in time.

  31. *You must have Apple QuickTime installed on your computer to view the Preview movies.  
  32. Apple QuickTime is provided in the Setup folder at startup.  To install QuickTime for 
  33. Windows, do the following:
  34. 1.  Insert Next Generation Disc in your CD-ROM drive.
  35. 2.  Double-click on the NEXT icon.
  36. 3.  Double-click on the "Setup" folder.
  37. 4.  Double click on "qt211".
  38. 5.  Double click on either "QT16" for Windows3.1 users, or "QT32" for Windows95 
  39. users.
  40. 6.  The installation should begin at this point in time.

  63. Please note the following known difficulties for Next Generation Disc Edition:
  64.  
  65. Q:  "I can't see any movies."
  66. A:  You must have Apple QuickTime installed on your computer to view the Preview 
  67. movies.  Apple QuickTime is provided in the Setup folder at startup.
  68.  
  69. Q:  "The sound capability on the Personal Computer side of the disc is somewhat 
  70. temperamental."  
  71. A:  Try resetting the sound slider below the Next Generation logo when viewing a movie 
  72. without sound.  If using Microsoft Windows95, check your audio settings if you do not 
  73. encounter sound when viewing QuickTime movies.

  75. Q:  "How do I get back to the Previews screen?  (Or any screen for that matter?)"
  76. A:  Use the Title Bar (located at the top of the screen) to navigate backward from any 
  77. location.  The Title Bar acts as a reverse button, and also indicates where you are on the 
  78. disc.

  80. We suggest the following minimum system requirements to those who use our disc:
  81.  
  82. PC: IBM or 100% compatible; 486DX2/66MHz; 8MB of RAM; 2X CD-ROM drive: 
  83. SoundBlaster-compatible sound card; Modem recommended (14.4 Kbps minimum)
  84. Macintosh: System 7 or higher; 68040/25Mhz; 8MB of RAM; 2X CD-ROM drive; Modem 
  85. recommended (14.4 Kbps minimum)

  87. Please keep in mind that some game manufacturers are optimizing for higher system 
  88. requirements than stated above, therefore certain titles may not be accessible to persons 
  89. with system requirements similar to those suggested by Imagine Publishing.  Check the 
  90. ReadMe file of each demo in order to clarify individual system requirements.
