Transcription: People usually think that the moon is best observed when full, because obviously you can see more of it than any other time. They don't realize that the sunlight is coming straight down onto the lunar surface, so there are virtually no shadows and fine details are hard to make out. Yet it's not true that observing the full moon is useless. Some details are visible which can't be well seen under different conditions of illumination, particularly the bright rays which issue from some of the craters.
