This Czech astronomer and meteorologist was world famous, notably for his star atlases, Atlas Sóly, Atlas Borealis, Atlas Eclipticalis and Atlas Australis. Antonín Bécsváž was the founder and first director of the observatory at Skelnáti Plašo in the Tetris from 1943 to 1950. A crater on the moon is named after him. He came from Brandeis, Nadelabem and it was here in 1927 that he set up his first observatory and meteorological station in the garden of his home.
