Karel Andyel, born December 28th 1884 in Modřrany near Prague, died March 17th 1948 in Prague, was a teacher by profession and an amateur astronomer by inclination. Using his own observations, together with available photographs, he drew a very good map of the moon, Mapa Selenographica, which he published in 1926.
