  6. --------
  7. This is the final beta version of IT-trac if you find any bugs email bugs@it-trac.com. Please include what Palm device your using, the build date of IT-trac (it can be found by taping the About IT-trac button in the Customer List form) and a description of how to replicate the bug. We also welcome your input; if you've got any ideas for new features or changes you'd like to see in future versions, please email us at feedback@it-trac.com.

  9. This build is not compatible with releases prior to 06.15.00. With build 07.01.00 we have frozen the databases. Any data entered into either build 03.09.00 or any after 06.15.00 will be migrated to the final version when the desktop is released.

  17. Upgrading from build 06.15.00 or later
  18. --------------------------------------
  19. If and only if you've been using any of the 06.xx.00 builds, you can upgrade by simply using the Palm Install tool to copy the following PDB files onto your Palm:
  20. IT-TRAC.PRC
  21. IT-TRAC.PDB
  22. DEVTYPE.PDB
  23. DIRROLE.PDB
  24. IOTYPE.PDB
  25. OS.PDB
  26. RAID.PDB 
  27. The only data affected by this upgrade is the RAID setting on I/O Devices. If it was set to something other than "None" it likely will be incorrect.

  30. Installation
  31. ------------
  32. If you're using any build prior to 06.15.00 and don't want to re-enter data do not install this; if you do the data will be lost.

  34. If you have a non-upgradeable version (prior to 06.15.00) of the beta installed you need to delete it first. On the Palm, go to the apps screen, tap the menu button then tap delete. Select IT-trac and tap the delete button, confirm the deletion by taping yes.

  36. To install uncompress the zip file to a temporary directory and use the Palm Install Tool to copy all of the .PRC and .PDB files to the Palm. We recommend using WinZip to uncompress the zip file as users have reported problems with pkunzip.

  41. Evaluating IT-trac without a Palm
  42. ---------------------------------
  43. If you're interested in seeing the new version but don't have a Palm to test it on consider using POSE (Palm OS Emulator). It can be downloaded from http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/tools/emulator/.
  44. To use it with IT-trac first follow the setup instructions included with POSE.
  45. -Extract the IT-trac .PRC and .PDB files to a temporary directory.
  46. -Open POSE and go into the Address application screen then drag and drop the .PRC and .PDB files onto the POSE window.
  47. -Right click on the POSE window and select "Settings" then "Debug Options". Uncheck every checkbox that will allow it, click OK.
  48. -Switch to the Application screen and you should see IT-trac, run it as you normally would.

  50. Another option is the web-based demo http://www.it-trac.com/online_demo/demo.htm. The one catch is that any data entered is lost as soon as you close the browser. We've entered a sample company so there's something to experiment with.

  55. 07/01/00 - The database is frozen

  57. 06/20/00 - This version is an upgrade to 06.15.00, new features include:
  58. * Fixed bug where data in Custom Fields wasn't being loaded.
  59. * Added complete list of RAID types. Check any I/O Devices to ensure that the RAID setting is still correct.
  60. * Expanded list of Connected Device types.

  62. 06/15/00 - Again the database formats have changes so it's not backwards compatible. New features include:
  63. * "None" Site and Lan are created by default
  64. * Jump-To added, next to Site and Lan dropdowns is a curved arrow, clicking on it will take you to the selected Site or Lan where you can review or edit the information.
  65. * Fixed several errors in the Lan and Nic forms.
  66. * When checked the Assigned By DHCP checkbox on the Nic form pulls the subnet mask and default gateway from the selected Lan.
  67. * Deleting works more reliably.

  69. 05/03/00 - This beta expires on 6/15/00. The database formats have changed so it's not compatible with earlier releases. Notable features:
  70. * New class of object has been added. Connected Device can store info on firewalls, switches, print servers, etc
  71. * Printers, Network Interfaces, and I/O Devices can now be added to Servers, Workstations and Connected Devices
  72. * 4 fields on each object are user defined.

  74. 03/9/00 - This is an upgrade to builds 03.07.00 and 03.08.00. In fixing the bugs on the server form a new one was created, it is now resolved.

  76. 03/8/00 - Fixed two small bugs, one with the Backup and the Directory Role dropdowns on the server form.
