  5.                For Windows NT Operating System, March release.

  7.    Desktop+ is a Control Panel applet for Windows NT. It gives you access
  8. to many Windows desktop settings not otherwise available except for direct
  9. editing. In addition, a second file is included to automatically log you in
  10. as the Administrator, bypassing the Ctrl-Alt-Del window and so on. To begin
  11. using Desktop+, copy NTDESK.CPL and NTDESK.HLP to your Windows system
  12. directory, probably "\WINNT\SYSTEM32". The next time you start the Control
  13. Panel, you should see a strange new icon....that being Desktop+. Doubleclick
  14. the new icon to start the applet.

  18.    Program Manager settings.
  19.    Dialog added to Auto-Login program.
  20.    No additional DLLs, self-contained.

  22. Available Options -
  23.  
  24.    * Menu Settings
  25.       Delay: Millisecond delay between clicking on a menu and it's appearing.
  26.       Left / Right Align: Aligns menu text to left or right side of a menu.
  27.  
  28.    * Icons
  29.       Vertical Spacing: Pixels between each icon, including text.
  30.       Desktop Fonts: Displays a dialog box from which you may pick a font,
  31.                      font size and style to use for the desktop, Program
  32.                      Manager and icons. Select a font and press Enter or OK
  33.                      to accept or Cancel to exit.

  35.    * Help Colors: Various "jump points" in Windows Help are colored by
  36.                      whether they jump to a different topic or a popup window
  37.                      or run a macro. The colors for each of these items may be
  38.                      changed by clicking on the button to change, displaying a
  39.                      color dialog box. Select a color for the item chosen and
  40.                      press Enter or OK to accept or Cancel to exit.

  42.    * Double-Click Settings: Determines the maximum number of pixels a mouse
  43.                      may move between two clicks and still have it considered
  44.                      a double-click. Enter the pixel spacing and press Enter
  45.                      or OK to accept, Cancel to exit.

  47.    * Log On Settings: You may change the default user name and system domain
  48.                      that appears in the Logon dialog box. In addition, you
  49.                      may change your desktop shell and whether the system
  50.                      automatically logs on the Adminstrator. In order for the
  51.                      "Automatic Logon" feature to work, you will also need to
  52.                      copy AUTOADMN.EXE to your Windows system directory and
  53.                      add the program to Program Manager's "Startup" group.
  54.                      Failing to do so will only let your system automatically
  55.                      start once.

  57.    * DOS Box Settings: Allows you to change the text color, size and command
  58.                      buffer size ("Doskey" emulation) of "DOS boxes".

  60.    * Program Manager: Allows various levels of security in menu items and
  61.                      icon property settings.
  62.  
  63.    The "Automatic Logon" feature automatically logs in the admininstrator
  64. when Windows boots, bypassing the usual Ctrl-Alt-Del, log in procedure. In
  65. order to use the feature, you should set the Default User to your system's
  66. Adminstrator name (mine's "Administrator") and select the checkbox. If the
  67. administrator doesn't need a password, you're on your way. You also need to
  68. include AUTOADMN in your Startup group. This little program reads the Auto-
  69. -login settings and updates the system. If you select Auto-login and fail to
  70. put the program in the Startup group, it will only auto-login one time,
  71. reverting back to the normal pattern ever after.

  74.    Note that some of the settings available to not take effect until the next
  75.         time Windows is restarted from the bottom up. Others, such as the Log
  76.         On settings, take effect the next logon.
