BGCONFIG.DOC
01/28/93
The BGCONFIG program is used to permanently switch the defaults for certain
programs in BRUCEymm.ZIP. Other programs would let you do this by setting an
environmental parameter but I kept running out of environmental space so that
was out. Programs like LIST come with a clone function that let you change the
program while you're in the program but, being written in QuickBASIC, my
programs already took up so much memory that such an option was out too. So
along comes a single program that lets you change the defaults for several
programs.
Note: This program is still being developed so it make take awhile to have all
of my programs support it. The first program that supported it was BFIND. The
others are being added as time permits. Say "ooh" when you see the menus pop
up; they're something else that I'm working on.
Currently, BGCONFIG will let you set the following defaults in the following
routines:
BRUCEyym
Routine Settable defaults Values
BFIND Reverse match criteria /V or /-V
Show counts only /C or /-C
Number lines /N or /-N
Case insensitive /I or /-I
Pause output /P or /-P
Include headings /HEAD or /-HEAD
CONVERT Output format /TO FIXED, /TO ASCII,
/TO WKS, or /TO DBF
Action update bad data /SKIP, /MISSING, or /ABORT
Beep when done /BEEP or /-BEEP
DIRTOTAL Pick sort program /SORT=SORTF, /SORT=QSORT,
/SORT=DOS, /SORT=INTERNAL
Use MS-DOS 5.0 sorting /DOS or /-DOS
Beep when done /BEEP or /-BEEP
FILL Output destination A: or B:
Beep when done /BEEP or /-BEEP
Confirm each file /PROMPT or /-PROMPT
Wipe out existing files /WIPE or /-WIPE
READ Monochrome or color /MONO or /-MONO
Running the program:
BGCONFIG [ routine ] [ /MONO | /-MONO | /COLOR | /-COLOR ] [ /? ]
where:
"routine" is the name of BRUCEymm routine to change. ".EXE" is presumed. You
can fully specify the location and name of the program if you want but BGCONFIG
will search for it if you don't. If BGCONFIG is in the same subdirectory as the
other program, it won't have any trouble finding it. If you don't specify
anything, you'll get a current list of all BGCONFIGable programs (including
several that aren't available to you).
"/MONO" or "/-COLOR" sets the screens to monochrome.
"/-MONO" or "/COLOR" sets the screens to color and is typically the default.
"/?" or "/HELP" or "HELP" gives you syntactical help with the command.
