  3.     Notice to Warp/UnWarp users:
  4.  
  5.     If you are currently using the Warp/UnWarp combination you SHOULD
  6. switch to DMS.  Warp/UnWarp are no longer being supported so you will
  7. never see anymore updates.  SDS Software holds the sole copyright
  8. and source to the above programs.  Any version beyond Warp 1.11 and
  9. UnWarp 1.02 are strictly fake and have no advantages.  They are not
  10. authorized and chances are that it is either a trojan horse or just
  11. a filezapped older version.
  12.  
  13.     With the release of DMS there is NO reason to still be using
  14. Warp/UnWarp.  DMS packs faster and much better and for most modes
  15. unpacks faster than UnWarp.  The compression/decompression routines
  16. have been optimized in 68000 machine language and we are constantly
  17. trying to improve.  Currently our routines outperform every available
  18. compressor.  What follows is a short comparison.

  20. The disk used for compression was a stock, unmodified Workbench 1.3 disk,
  21. to and from drive DF0: on a standard Amiga 2000 , no accelerator boards.
  22. Since Zap does not ignore unused sectors and the file compressors cannot,
  23. the compression was done with the NOZERO option on DMS and Warp and
  24. the -m option on Lhwarp.  There were only 60 free sectors on the Workbench
  25. 1.3 disk so the difference is negligible but this was done to get
  26. the most accurate comparisons.

  51.     a 901120 byte 'image' file of the disk was created and that was
  52.     compressed.

  54.     As you can see, DMS easily outperforms the competition.  CMODE 4
  55. provides the best in compression while CMODE 3 gives the best size/speed
  56. ratio.  The compression routines developed for DMS will be incorporated
  57. into our new FileMasher compresser to be released soon.

  59.     DMS is currently being ported to MS-DOS , Atari ST, and Macintosh
  60. personal computers.
