-
- COPYRIGHT NOTICE:
-
- AAFP is (c)opyrighted but distributed as shareware. If you use AAFP to
- record stats and/or predict winners of either the NFL or WLAF for 4 games or
- more from the time you first acquire AAFP, you are obligated to send the
- required registration fee of $15 to the address listed at the end of this

- ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
-
- Michael David Cox (his middle name is used because the author of SkyLine
- BBS is also named Michael Cox and MDC was getting tired of receving hate mail)
- is a 25 year old engineer with a major US corporation. This is his first
- attempt at distributing his software as shareware. His well known PD AMOS
- release was the AMOS MED Module player which incorporated assembly to access
- the external medplayer.library by Teijo Kinnunen. He is also the assistant
- editor of the AmoNER Project, a PD disk magazine that is dedicated to AMOS
- programs only. The disk is bootable and uses RAMOS so even non-AMOS owners
- (poor blokes) can enjoy the disk.
- He prefers gorgeous females with natural red hair (shaken and/or stirred),
- listens to King Diamond while coding, and hopes the Dolphins win the Super
- Bowl!

-
- ABOUT PrOjEcT:NOISE -
-
- PrOjEcT:NOISE aka POET:NOISE is dedicated to bringing you quality software
- written in AMOS. Other projects on the board include a QWK compatible offline
- reader for you modem junkies and a strategy game. Unfortunately, this
- strategy game is still in the design phase and may change theme at any time,
- but we shall keep those on our mailing list informed. It is also not known
- whether the game will be sold as shareware or a full blown commercial package.
-
- OTHER CREDITS:
-
- All graphics were drawn using Deluxe Paint III. Thanks to Steve Winkler (of
- Montgomery, AL) for the metallic palette and JanusMan (of isca.uiowa.edu) for
- helping MDC with the making of the 'AMOS American Football'.

- System Requirements:
- 512k RAM. AAFP does prefer to have its data files in the S: directory so
- it may be handy to have at least two floppy drives.
-
- Running AAFP:
- AAFP can be run from either the Workbench or the CLI:
-
- From the workbench, simply double click on the AAFPWB icon.
-
- From the CLI, either have AAFP in a directory that is in your path
- or cd to the directory it is in and just enter AAFP. AAFP will
- detach itself from the CLI.
-
- NOTE: LMB means Left Mouse Button
-
- How AAFP Works:
- When you first run AAFP, it takes a few moments to decrunch, so do
- not think it is not working.
- When AAFP starts, the menu screen fades in with the American colors
- to make you feel like playing American Footbal. (GRUNT!)
- Next, AAFP will search for its data files (AAFP.*stats)
- in the S: directory/volume. If the files do not exist, it will ask you to
- either enter the directory where the AAFP files are or press enter and it
- will create them in the S: directory/volume. It does this for both the NFL
- and WLAF statistics files.
- If the files are found or after they are created, the Main Meu will
- appear.
-

-
- Quit - This will, obviously, quit AAFP. AAFP will not ask if you are
- sure since it requires you to click on this button with the
- LMB or press the letter Q. All changes are saved immediactely
- so no need to worry about losing all those statistics you
- entered.

- How To Enter Statistics
-
- Whether you are entering statistics for the NFL or WLAF, the procedure
- is the same.
- Before you begin, find a newspaper that has all the statistics and
- find the following for each team:
-
- Passing Yards, Rushing Yards, First Downs, Return Yards, Defensive
- Yards Allowed, Points Scored, and Points given up.
-
- Currently, AAFP will cycle through each team and ask for the
- following statistics (Opp. means opponent's):
-
- Offensive Yards Gained = Passing Yards + Rushing Yards
- First Downs
- Return Yards
- Defensive Yards Allowed = Opp. Passing + Opp. Rushing + Opp. Return Yrds.
- Points Scored aka PF aka Points For
- Points Given Up aka PA aka Points Against
-
- So, for Defensive Yards Allowed, make sure you have what their opponent did
- on offense PLUS Return Yards.
-
- As you enter the New Data, notice how it will add this data to the
- Current Total and print it under the New Total column.
- After all data is entered, you will be asked if the data is
- correct. If correct, either press ENTER or enter the letter Y. You will
- then proceed to the next team after the data is saved. If something is wrong,
- enter the letter N. You will then cycle through the Statistics entering again.
- Continue this procedure for each team. If a team comes up that you
- do not have statistics for, pressing enter for each entry will give a value
- of 0 and not affect the recorded data. You will still be asked if the
- entered data is correct. Press return to continue to the next team.
- After all 28 teams have been entered, you will be returned to the
- EDIT STATS menu.
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- How To Predict Winners
-
- For either the NFL or WLAF, predicting winners is still the same.
-
- First, you will be prompted whether or not you wish to manually
- enter the data via the Keyboard or read in the data from the stats File. K
- will select keyboard entry and F will select file entry.
-
- Next, you are asked how many games you wish to predict and for what
- week. It is advised that you start using AAFP on the second week so that
- you will have some stats for the program to analyze, otherwise it will
- always pick the HOME TEAM.
-
- Now, if you are using the file entry, you are first asked for the
- HOME TEAM. Enter the team's LAST NAME (Dolphins, Fire, Cowboys, etc.).
- Just pressing ENTER will return you to the PREDICT WINNERS Menu. If it finds
- the name, it will print the team's current TOTAL stats. If the name is not
- found, you will be prompted for it again. This will continue until you
- either enter a valid name or just press ENTER to exit.
- After the HOME TEAM's statistics are displayed, you will be asked for
- the VISITING TEAM's name. Follow the same procedure as above.
- Once both teams are displayed, you will be asked who you favor.
- Enter an H for the HOME TEAM, a V for the VISITOR TEAM or a ? to say "Who
- gives a flying buffalo." You will then be asked if all is correct.
- Enter a Y, or just press ENTER, if all is correct or enter an N to
- redo the whole procedure, starting with entering the HOME TEAM's name.
-
- If you are entering all the data from the keyboard, have the
- statistics listed above close by as you will be asked to enter all the
- information manually. The process is the same except that AAFP will
- not check to see if you entered a legal team name, so you could possibly use
- it to predict the Canadian Football League games. You will not be able to
- save the stats, though.
-
- After all the games have been entered, a list of whom AAFP predicts
- as the winner will be displayed. You will then be asked if you wish to
- save this information. Currently, there is no function in AAFP to check
- who was predicted against who actually won and record the percentage. The
- file is there for this future upgrade. It is a flat ASCII file in the
- following format:
- Week Number, Home Team, Visiting Team, Predicted Winner
-
- Since it is in plain ASCII, you can display it on the screen or
- load it into your favorite text editor and print/edit it.

- v1.1 I found a bug that caused the wrong record to be read which would
