- INSTRUCTIONS FOR A FIRST DEMONSTRATION 12 Sep 1991
-
- ORBIT include a script mode, which allows to execute a series of preset
- spacecraft command. Some such scripts are enclosed in this distribution
- and will give a first idea of the capability of ORBIT.
-
- Start the program. Click over the two introduction screens. When the
- LOAD_SITUATION file requester appears, choose one of the following files:
-
- - DEMO.orb: the spacecraft (white cross) is in low Earth orbit at 500 km,
- and will rendez-vous with the orange satellite in geostationary (36,000 km)
- orbit.
-
- - MoonJourney.orb: from a geostationary orbit, the spacecraft will fly to
- the Moon, enter a quasi-circular lunar orbit, and then return to the
- Earth.
-
- - Voyager II: see the Solar System, rotating about the Sun. The spacecraft
- is on its way to Jupiter, where it will be deviated towards Saturn.
-
- At the end of the first two demos, the script will automatically load the
- next one.
- You may at any time load another Situation file, give a command, etc.
-
- These demos show only a small part of the capabilities of the program.
- You should read the documentation (HELP menu) in order to use the normal
- command mode, in which one "drives" the spacecraft.
- You may try some menus, such as "Load Spacecraft" to change spacecraft
- type (load the Orion or Universe nuclear fusion types).
- Select "Compute Orbit" or "Object Data", which are typical "board computer"
- functions, which assist you in giving opportune command to the spacecraft.
-
- One important warning: if you have an Amiga with 512 KB CHIP memory, do
- not open to many windows at the same time !
- In order to save Chip memory, the tool windows can be iconified with a mouse
- left-right click.
