  1. Short: Multi-format sound converter, sources
  2.  
  3. This is an Amiga port of the popular Unix multiple-format sound file
  4. converter SOX, created and maintained by Lance Norskog
  5. (thinman@netcom.com).  It converts between any two of 8SVX, AIFF, VOC,
  6. WAV, HCOM, ulaw, and raw (signed/unsigned, byte/word/longword).  This
  7. covers all of the most common sound formats.
  8.  
  9. In addition, SOX can perform several effects such as echo, vibro,
  10. volume change, rate change, low-pass filter, and band-pass filter.
  11.  
  12. For the Amiga version, both FPU (68881/2) and non-FPU versions are
  13. provided, so that mathematically intensive effects take less time to
  14. perform.
  15.  
  16. SOX is easily expandable, and several new effects have been
  17. implemented separately.  I will add these into the Amiga version soon;
  18. for now, this is identical in function to the public Unix release.

  20. Note: AmiSOX release 2.0 corresponds to public release 5, with future
  21. releases in linear relation.  AmiSOX 2.1, when delivered, will be
  22. merely my own update to public release 5.
