- Megadesk by B. Gross (GROSS at TOROLAB2)
- --------
- Original program written by C. Meadowcroft
-
-
- Megadesk expands your desktop to increase the height and width of your
- screen. It allows movement to each screen-sized "room" with a single
- mouse-click on the desired room's "picture" in Megadesk's main window
- (see details in Megadesk Usage below).
-
- The Megadesk picture is drawn with the pull-down in the "Options"
- menuitem "Redraw all Screens". When windows move within a room, Megadesk's
- picture of the room can be updated with a right-mouse double-click on the
- picture. If you want a window to appear in all rooms, select it in the
- "Locks" menuitem pull-down and it will stay on the screen as you move to
- all your new rooms (Megadesk itself is automatically locked).
-
- If you want to move a window to another room, you can:
- A. drag its picture on Megadesk with the right mouse and the big window will
- move too (see Usage below for better explanation).
- B. "Lock" a window temporarily so it moves with Megadesk from its old room
- as you change to a new one then un"Lock" it.
- C. move the window so it sticks more than 1/2 off the screen in the direction
- of the room you want it to go to, then go the that new room and reposition
- correctly.
-
- When you want to save all the windows' positions, "Lock" states, and the
- Megadesk picture, select Save Main State in the Options menuitem pull-down.
- Restore Main State does what you'd expect, and is done automatically when
- Megadesk is started.
-
-
- Starting Megadesk
- -----------------
-
- Megadesk begins with a 2 room X 2 room expanded desktop, a miniature
- picture of the current screen in the bottom left room. It is then up
- to the user to move windows out to the other rooms, tell Megadesk to
- redraw its pictures of the rooms, and Save this Main State.
-
- When Saving the Main State, Megadesk creates a state file "MEGADESK.INI"
- either in the directory you typed the start command from of the directory
- specified in a "SET MEGADESK=" statement in your CONFIG.SYS file
- (ex. SET MEGADESK=C:\UTIL). If you don't have a "SET MEGADESK=" statement
- you must start megadesk from the same directory every time or it will not
- find the MEGADESK.INI file.
-
- Megadesk Parameters:
-
- Start Megadesk /Wn
-
- n = seconds to wait before restoring window positions (can be set to allow
- time for all windows to be created during startup)

- Megadesk Hints
- --------------
-
- It is recommended that users 'lock' the desktop window when using Megadesk.
- This will carry the desktop items into every room. This is the default
- when starting Megadesk for the first time.
-
- Remember to "Save Main State" whenever you change what you want to be the
- default Megadesk window bitmap or any of the other windows' positions/states.
-
- If you use WinManPM, please don't use the WinManPM screen groups, but
- instead use the Megadesk Main/Numbered States. There are several conflicts
- between the two programs.
-
- The 'X' and 'Y' numbers in the locks list are the position of the window
- relative to the current room. For example, the line
- " 1 -1 3270 Emulator"
- would mean that the "3270 Emulator" window is 1 room to the right and 1 room
- down from the current room.
-
- Megadesk gives you room to have LanChat up all the time. Just type
- net stop netpopup and let your network messages come to LanChat. No more
- annoying pop-ups and lost messages from the Lan.
-
- The files MEGADESK.EXE and MEGAHOOK.DLL files are both 32-bit, for OS/2 2.0
- and above only. OS/2 1.x is no longer supported by Megadesk.
