  4.                                ALBATROS CD Player
  5.  
  6. ALBATROS CD Player is a Compact Disk Player which will allow you to play your 
  7. Compact Audio Disks. 
  8.  
  9. Well, here it is : a CD Player for OS/2 2.1.
  10. Though there is already a CD Player in the MMPM/2 Package, I wanted to have
  11. a CD Player that is a bit more fancy, a Friend of mine wanted a Volume
  12. Knob, some others wanted a LCD Display and so on..
  13.  
  14. PACKAGE

  16. You should find the following files in your Package :

  18. ALBATROS.EXE            - The Executable
  19. GERMAN.DLL              - The German Resource File
  20. ENGLISH.DLL             - The English Resource File
  21. ALBATROS.HLP            - The Helpfile
  22. ALBATROS.INF            - The Information file
  23. ALBATROS.ICO            - The Icon
  24. ALBATROS.FON            - Needed for The LCD Style Font

  26. INSTALL.CMD             - The Installation Command file

  28. REQUIREMENTS
  29.  
  30. ALBATROS CD PLAYER requires the following :
  31.  
  32. - PC Running OS/2 2.1 with MMPM/2 installed
  33.  ( I do not know if it will work with OS/2 2.0 an MMPM/2 installed )
  34.  
  35. - a CD Player supported by MMPM/2
  36.  
  37. - a AUDIO CD in the CD Player
  38.  
  39. FEATURES
  40.  
  41. ( All in all I made it look a bit like a Wind*** Player called Yamamoto ..
  42.  but , it is a lot cheaper .. )
  43.  
  44. - a LCD Style Display for Track and Time
  45. - some Buttons ( Forward , Backward , Fast Forward , Fast Backward , Play ,
  46.   Stop , Pause )
  47. - a Display for Maximum Playing Time of The CD
  48. - a Direct Selection of Tracks
  49. - Programmable
  50. - Intro Play
  51. - Editing Track and CD Titels
  52. - German / English Version ( more to come )
  53.  
  54. INSTALLATION 
  55.  
  56. Just unpack the Archiv in any Directory of your Hard Disk and Ready you are .. 
  57.  
  58. OR : use the installation file In this Case type : "Install" and everything 
  59. else will be shown to you .. 
  60.  
  61. In case the CD Player doesn't show the LCD Display or a Message Pops up saying 
  62. it doesn't find the DLL file, copy the ALBATROS.DLL to the /OS2/DLL directory. 
  63.  
  64. In case you see the SETTINGS Window Displayed at Startup , make sure you have 
  65. the MMPM/2 correctly installed. 
  66.  
  67. In case the CD Player doesn't find your Audio CD despite there is one in your 
  68. Drive, make sure you have selected the correct drive for audio CD's in the 
  69. MMPM/2 Configuration. 
  70.  
  71. OOPS , LANG-GUIT-CHEESE 
  72.  
  73. Since I will be distributing the CD Player in a Variety of Languages there may 
  74. be Typos and Spelling Errors. 
  75.  
  76. German and English Versions I am actually writing this player in English ( 
  77. which is not my native Language ) then I will be translating this into German ( 
  78. which is my native Language ), you can blame me directly for any spelling 
  79. mistakes. 
  80.  
  81. Italian and ????? Versions I will be giving the German Version to a friend of 
  82. mine, who will translate it into an Italian and maybe Spanish / Greek / 
  83. Whatever Language. And then I will have no Idea what kind of translation he 
  84. will give me back.

  87. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Main Screen ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  88.  
  89. This is what the Program will look like, when you first start it.
  90.  
  91. Just in case the Volume can not be controlled by your Audio CD Player,
  92. you will see the following Picture
  93.  
  94. You will not be able to see any type of menu on the top of the screen, therefore
  95. you will have to use the POPUP Menu on your Right Mouse Button to select your Menu
  96. choices.
  97. Here you can choose several things :
  98.  
  99. OPTIONS
  100.  
  101. This is where to choose all the settings and options for your CD Player.
  102. Here you can also enter Titles, select Programs, etc .
  103.  
  104. PROGRAM
  105.  
  106. Here you will find another submenu showing you all the Programming Options
  107. of your CD Player.
  108.  
  109. NONE
  110.  
  111. This means, No Program is active. Use whenever yuo want to select tracks by yourself.
  112.  
  113. Here you will be able to change Tracks by yourself, as well as skip forward, backwards.
  114.  
  115. REPEAT TRACK
  116.  
  117. The CD PLAYER will continuously play this selected track. The Buttons FORWARD, REWIND,
  118. SKIP UP and SKIP DOWN as well as the DIREKT Selection Value Set will be Disabled.
  119.  
  120. 'Repeating Track' will also be displayed in the Main Program Window.
  121.  
  122. Here you will not be able to change Tracks by yourself, therefore some of the controls
  123. will be disabled now.
  124.  
  125. REPEAT DISK
  126.  
  127. The CD PLAYER will continuously play the Disk from the first to the last Track.
  128. The Buttons FORWARD, REWIND, SKIP UP and SKIP DOWN as well as the DIREKT Selection Value
  129. Set will be Disabled.
  130.  
  131. 'Repeating Disk' will also be displayed in the Main Program Window.

  133. Here you will not be able to change Tracks by yourself, therefore some of the controls
  134. will be disabled now.

  136. RANDOM PLAY
  137.  
  138. The CD PLAYER will continuously play random Tracks on your CD. The Buttons FORWARD,
  139. REWIND, SKIP UP and SKIP DOWN as well as the DIREKT Selection Value Set will be Disabled.
  140.  
  141. 'Playing Random' will also be displayed in the Main Program Window.
  142.  
  143. INTRO PLAY
  144.  
  145. This will play the tracks on your CD from the first track to the last track for
  146. a selectable amount of seconds ( usually 15 sec, but you will be able to choose that )
  147. After it has played all the tracks, the player will stop and jump back to track 1.
  148.  
  149. Here you will not be able to change Tracks by yourself, therefore some of the controls
  150. will be disabled now.
  151.  
  152. 'INTRO PLAY' will also be displayed in the Main Program Window.

  154. PROGRAM PLAY
  155.  
  156. Here you will be able to play all the tracks chosen in the Program ( Notebook )
  157.  
  158. Here you will not be able to change Tracks by yourself, therefore some of the controls
  159. will be disabled now.
  160.  
  161. 'PROGRAM PLAY' will also be displayed in the Main Program Window.

  164. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Display Elements ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  165.  
  166. This is the main Display of ALBATROS, where you will find various Information
  167. about you Compact Disk, the active Track and so on.
  168.  
  169. This will inform you about the active track, as well as the minutes and seconds
  170. already played from this track.
  171.  
  172. This will inform you about the maximum minutes and seconds of the selected track
  173. as well as the maximum number of tracks on your CD.
  174.  
  175. This will show you the Title of the CD ( Left Side ) as well as the Title of the
  176. active Track ( Right Side ).
  177. The display of title or the display of the track may also be turned off in the Settings
  178. page of the notebook.
  179.  
  180. This will inform you about the active program. If you haven't selected a program, you will
  181. not see anything displayed here.

  186. PLAY Button 
  187.  
  188. Pressing play by itself plays track 1 to the end of the disc.
  189. Pressing after a number was entered at the Number pad plays that track number
  190. to the end of disc.
  191. Pressing PLAY with pause active resumes play at the current position.
  192. Pressing PLAY with random play actice will randomly play tracks from
  193. your CD.
  194.  
  195. PAUSE Button 
  196.  
  197. Pressing pause will stop audio playback at the current position. 
  198.  
  199. When you have pressed PAUSE, the Button will be displayed in a lower State 
  200. indicating Pause pressed. You can now either press Pause again, which will 
  201. cause the Pause Button to be displayed in the normal state. You can now press 
  202. STOP, which will cancel pause and Stop the current Track or you can press PLAY, 
  203. which will also cancel PAUSE and continue playing the current Track.

  207. Pressing stop will stop audio playback and seek head to the beginning of
  208. the track .
  209.  
  210. SKIP UP Button Pressing skip up will advance playback to next track. 
  211.  
  212. SKIP DOWN Button 
  213.  
  214. Pressing skip down will cause playback of previous track. 
  215.  
  216. SEARCH UP Button SEARCH DOWN Button Pressing search up will increase current 
  217. playback by five seconds. Pressing search down will decrease current playback 
  218. by five seconds. 
  219.  
  220. EJECT Pressing eject will cause CD disc to be ejected from the drive. 
  221.  
  222. If there is no Audio Disc in the CD Player, you will see the following screen:

  224. LOUDSPEAKER 
  225.  
  226. Pressing this Button will toggle the Music on or off.
  227.  
  228. VOLUME 
  229.  
  230. This Volume knob will only show if your Audio CD player is capable
  231. of controlling the volume. If it is not, there will no Volume
  232. knob be displayed.
  233.  
  234. Turning this Button will Change the Volume of the CD PLAYER
  235. The Volume Knob may not work correctly with Audio Headphones connected
  236. to the front of your CD Player on some CD Players (Hardware Problem ).
  237. Instead , use the internal connectors ( CINCH Connectors ) to connect
  238. the CD Player to your Stereo or to your Soundblaster Card.

  240. NUMBER PAD

  242. By double-clicking on a number of the Number Pad you can directly choose the corresponding
  243. Track of your CD.

  248. Select OPTIONS from the Popup Menu.

  253. This page will show you Information about the available Tracks on your CD .Here
  254. you can enter Title Information of the inserted CD. This Information will be saved to a
  255. file ALBATROS.INI in your Albatros Directory. This information is loaded every
  256. Time you insert the Compact Disk.

  258. In case you haven't entered any Title Information, you will see an empty Notebook.
  259.  
  260. CD Title
  261. Here you can enter the Titel of your Compact Disk. This Title will be displayed at the Top
  262. of the Container.
  263.  
  264. Title of selected track
  265. Select a Track first, then you can here enter the Titel of the selected Track. It will
  266. be automatically be inserted in the container.

  271. On this page you can select your active Program.
  272. Double Clicking a Track of the Left Listbox will add this track to the End of your
  273. active Program of the Right Listbox.

  275. Double Clicking a Track of the Right Listbox will delete this track from your
  276. active Program.

  278. At the Top you see how many songs you have selected and how many minutes this program will
  279. play. To actually Play this selected Program, you will have to choose  Program ->
  280. Program Play  from the Popup Menu.

  282. You will not see this Notebook page if you are using the SHAREWARE VERSION !
